They ensure someone keeps giving them access to all their private data, which the user agreement when you set up the device guarantees. Your data is worth a small fortune. Google didn't become a goliath selling phones.

interesting the Pixel 6a is not on the trade-in list. Many of us have the Pixel 6a on the way from other trade in deals that made if nearly free in the past few days.

I'm happy with my Pixel 6. It's a great phone after receiving all the OTA updates. However, I don't see many advantages of the Pixel 7 over the Pixel 6.
1) Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch screen, and the Pixel 7 is 6.3. I like larger.
2) Pixel 6 has 4,614 mAh, Pixel 7 has 4,355 mAh. In my case, I need more battery life.
3) Pixel 6 has Tensor CPU, while Pixel 7 has G2. Its AI chip is mostly in camera functionality. I'm OK with the Pixel 6 camera. It takes excellent pictures.
4) Front Camera: 8MP/10.8 MP. I have seen enough of MP wars.
5) Zoom: 7x/8x. Not noticeable.

With taxes included, I have to shell out another $55 for a new phone. My Pixel 6 is just six months old. I also paid an additional $22 for the Pixel 6 OEM case. Finally, I need to reinvest for the Pixel 7 case, an additional $30. So overall $85 for not so impressive upgrade. Long live Pixel 6.
Great summary. I am in the same boat. Pixel 6 is ~6 months old. But still, I feel this upgrade is worth it. Pixel 7 is much brighter (1,400 nits) and in 2 years if you want to upgrade with a trade-in the Pixel 7 will have better value over the Pixel 6.

I did it only because i also get 100 play credit, wanted a higher max brightness, better antenna and latest security features in the new chip. I dont notice too much difference so far. If you like how the 6 is working out, maybe just keep it. Also, there are no good trade in offers for the 7 yet, so if you see a new phone come out and want it, holding a 7 may be a while until it is included on trade in lists.

This is for the 128gb model when you trade in the 128gb pixel 6. Doesn't work if you go 256 to 256, they want $100 so it's a pass for me.

I'm confused, are you people paying $20 or is this after rebate type deal? I keep seeing these threads with similar titles but not seeing the discount in cart, i guess is not the same as Samsung were you actually only pay the discounted price.

Man, thought all our old phones were worthless but with $270 trade for a 3XL, I'm making the jump to a 7 Pro 256GB! Found a SuperFans code on one of the Reddit threads to sweeten the deal with some accessories and stocking stuffers. Thanks for the post!!

Bought a pixel 5 in good condition from swappa for 190 and traded in for 400, probably the best deal out there

Get the ringke fushion matte
That's the best I've found after buying a ton of cases including the Google one. Read the negative reviews on Amazon for the speigen many people said.it broke their phone. The ringke cushion clear at least shows.off the phone

I get ya.... but for me, was worth the "upgrade".
  • P7 is what the P6 should have been. Fingerprint sensor on my P6 was meh, it's been rock solid on my P7. For me, this improvement itself was worth the $20 as I no longer get frustrated with repeatedly placing my thumb on and off and sensor and then eventually having to enter my PIN code.
  • P6 didn't have the Face Recognition for unlocking, it's works very good on P7, use the fingerprint sensor less now Wink
  • The button placement on the side is slightly lower on P7, it just feels like a better placement, seems to fit better to my hand. Maybe also due to it being slightly slimmer.
  • Size doesn't matter - LOL - Coming from P6 to P7, that minor reduction in screen size isn't even noticeable (IMHO)
  • Slightly smaller battery in P7, but from my actual every day use the battery life is as good and may be slightly better. Gonna guess it's improvement in the CPU chip.
  • I seem to find a better cell service reception, I believe while same modem it's improved placement in the device.
  • There are some new camera features as well with P7. Not sure they'll port those over to P6, but maybe they will.
And one soft point to consider, for the P7 a P6 was $479 trade and P5 was $400, so the P7 will most likely be worth more on a trade-in for P8 or P9 in the future (hopefully Google really makes some significant improvements on those), so the $20 paid now may reap more rewards in the future. And I used a "superfan" code, so I also get $100 Play Store credits.

Like I said, I get what you are saying. But at same time the minor improvements are worth the $20 upgrade to me. But if you are happy with P6 and no issue with the fingerprint sensor, probably nothing compelling to upgrade.
