basically, afaik, c3+ are made in germany, c1's china, but overall, i think the best is what you use it for. they also have different attachements, for pets, etc...

so, hard to say exactly, what may work best for you...

give an olderthread a read, it may help you as well!

If you have a local authorized dealer, I'm guessing going in armed with this deal information you could probably negotiate a simple price match. In fact I've heard a few anecdotes about how local authorized dealers sometimes throw in something small, like a couple extra bags or maybe even an extra attachment, to decidedly be your best deal.
Even without any token freebies, a simple price match from a local dealer would almost certainly improve your position, regarding obtaining convenient and timely warranty repairs in the future.

I bought from last post. Mine and others reported open box (not sealed) and also damaged packaging. The vacuums worked fine, looked relatively new, and were able to register for mieles official warranty. Just buyer beware to check inside the box

I bought my C3 Brillant from a local store. Haggled it down to $1400. With free 4 year annual maintenence, 8 year extended warranty, and 8 free bags. This is awesome, controls are directly on the wand, turbo works great on high pile rugs, and I still have not overloaded the large C3 bag. Meanwhile. My cheapo Bissell has not been used once since...

I have the c3 complete. Greatest investment I've ever made. I only have carpet in my bedrooms but the electrohead renews the carpet freshness like no dyson has ever done. It just sucks so hard for all surfaces!!! Completely sealed too!!

Great vacuums, the old models were really reliable, ran for over 10 years.

Which model would be best for mostly hard floors (some low-medium pile rugs) with a dog that sheds like it's his job? I'm torn between the C3 cat & dog, C3 marine, and the cx1 cat & dog. Are the "cat & dog" models really better for pets or is that just a marketing thing?

They label them cat & dog because they contain the capability to vacuum pet hair off any surface out of the box without having to buy any additional pieces. It comes with the large motorized brush head that can vacuum low to thick pile carpeting, a parquet floor brush for bare floors, as well as a mini rotating brush attachment (STB101) to be used on upholstery to get pet hair off sofas. The CX1 has a HEPA filter, the C3 has a Charcoal filter which helps with eliminating pet odors.

The Marin on the other hand does have the capabilities of cleaning all floor types and rug thicknesses because it also has the larger power head, albeit a more premium one with lights on the front to see where the dust and hairs are. Comes with a HEPA filter & a feature that the vacuum will automate the suction levels based on what kind of surface you're vacuuming. Most people think to have the highest suction all the time, but that is not the case.

I prefer bagged vacuums over bagless. Especially with pets. The pet hair and dust goes in the bag, and throw the bag out.

TBH, I really want an upright bagged vacuum.
I just realized Miele doesnt make upright vacs anymore. They were the Dynamic U1.

Enjoy. When you are vacuuming your rugs, adjust the suction to a lower level (Level 2 or 3) for a smoother glide. There are actually icons on the base of the vacuum to help guide which suction level to use. Also, the motorized brush head has 5 levels depending on the thickness of the carpet or rug. 1 for low pile up to 5 for high pile.

Bummer. I'm sure these are great vacuums but I really don't want a canister vacuum and I really don't want to spend $750 or more.

No. C1 pure suction works best on floors and low pile rugs. For carpets, you need at least the Classic C1 turbo b/c it has the brush head to clean medium rugs more effectively.

Id check with your local dealer to see if they have any of the uprights in stock. Maybe you can get a good deal on them since they are discontinued.

For carpet make sure to get a model that has the electric head. I love my miele but I've got the non electric head and it struggles over low pile rugs just because the roller doesn't spin mechanically (just by your pushing). I don't have any carpet so that's ok, but I'd never really recommend it otherwise.

Also FYI, meile has upright models.
