The 5200 will last decades. My dad has a one that is 25 years old. It's simple. You have an on/off switch, a variable speed dial, and a full-retard high switch. The rocker switches are robust and could easily be replaced even if Vitamix somehow went out of business.
The A3300 is processor controlled with a digital display. You can set a timer and let it go. Membrane keypads on an oven, multiple remote controls, and a clothes washing machines have failed in my lifetime, so I don't have high hopes for the survival of the buttons on this machine. You will obviously not be repairing the unit with a generic rocker switch. The buttons are likely mounted to a motherboard with the screen, so any replacement will be expensive if not impossible. That's all not impressive in the least to me, but that's not the whole story. The A3300 does have an advantage of accepting the more modern jars.
The tall container is best for smaller portions. I love it. No need to have an extra container.
Just remember to register on the vitamix site. If you buy on amazon you cannot trade in but the rest of the warranty is the same.

Bought the e520 at Costco for $399 last weekend but didn't open it. Plan was to wait until today to see if the 5200 went on sale and return the e520, but this looks like the best Vitamix deal.

The resistive buttons on most microwaves were also designed to last a certain amount of time. Capacitive buttons sustain no wear with usage.
The reliability isn't automatically bad if it's electronic. That plane you last flew in relies on a lot more electronic devices to keep you alive than electrical devices. The Ascent blenders haven't been around long enough to know if they put the same quality into digital as they have electrical switches, but it's definitely not a sure thing that the old switches will outlast the new tech. (Especially when we get consistently good quality from the manufacturer.)
