Drop is selling HD 58X at $119 (with email signup) during Black Friday sale. Lowest price I've ever seen.

HD 6XX at $179 is probably the better deal, but the HD 58X is easier to drive / power and is a bargain at this price. I often use the HD 58X when I don't feel like plugging in my HD 700 to my DAC/amp setup. 58X sounds great, especially at this price.
I have these and these are my best sounding headphones that doesn't require an amp. These are extremely comfortable and the bass is amazing for an open back headphone. If you want to just plug into a laptop or mobile device this is probably the pair you want. If you want better sound and don't mind plugging into an amp the HD 6XX are probably the better buy.
I've had these since they came out and love them. They work with anything and have some of the best bass response I have found in an open back headphone. The 6XX has better midrange but you really can't go wrong with the 58X.

The sign-up 10$ discount doesn't show up? Is it because of some ad blocker? clicked on the mail, still doesn't show up in the cart.

Someone stated to email them after the purchase and they'll refund you the $10.

I use the 6XX and Focal clear and can cosign all the people saying 6XX is an ideal middle ground of price/performance.

Also, you might want to look into peace/equalizer APO with an oratory1990 preset modified to your liking. It's free and you're likely not going to get anything close to a noticeable blind test difference in performance/experience by buying an amp if you can already get them loud enough.

Anyone have experience on how the 58X compare to the 598? Been using those for 7 years now and think they're fantastic but see these Drop sets used by a lot of folks and have been curious about them for a while. 6XX seem fantastic but I'm not sure I want to get into amps and whatnot.

I have the 598 58x and the 6xx. They all sound very similar, only subtle differences. The comfort level for 598 is much better than the 58x or the 6xx. 598 clamping force is much milder. Check out rtings.com, they reviewed all 3.

Is hd58x better with ps5 or pc38x if plugged directly into dualshock controller? I don't need pc38x's mic. Just need the most immersive audio without dedicated amp/dac

None of the Sennheiser 6xx series headphones require an amp. The "these headphones need an amp" is the most annoying thing parroted in headphone threads.
