I bought an older version of this in 2013 for $99. Its been solid. The only issue is the plastic case latches wore out as there was no hinge. It looks like this new one has much better latches. Seems like a hot deal if the tool quality is the same.

I bought mine at the same time. The case latch design is the most frustrating thing ever. For the price the tools are solid. Ratchets are sloppy but keeps chugging along.

I got something similar to this from crescent back in 2016. It was my first real tool set. Everything has served me well over the past 6+ years and 4+ moves. The smallest ratchet is starting to have issues but I learned a lot from this set. Great price but the case sucks lol.

The father of my first serious girlfriend back in high school bought a similar kit for me back in like '05. The plastic case was junk but the tools were solid. I've still got most of them in the toolbox.

Thanks for this alternative. I'm leaning towards this one, but this set doesn't include the pliers, snips, adjustable wrench, and screwdrivers. It's more "wrenchy" and the original one posted here is more all-purpose.

My dad gave me a set like this back in 02-03 and I still use it today. I've had to replace the 1/4" and 3/8" ratchet drives through their lifetime guarantee via Fastenal.

Agree exactly with others. Great general tool set. Had it for a while, and yup latches break. Other than that, add a battery drill for the bits and you will be set.

Those look like the same Apex designed ratchets used by Husky and Gearwrench. While both have moved from 72 tooth to 90 tooth the difference isn't significant. Basically those are nice ratchets. It's hard to see what size sockets are included. For basic auto work it's really nice to have 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17mm in 3/8 deep sockets. 3/8 shallow is sometimes not tall enough to clear obstetrical around a bolt. 3/8 shallow + extension is sometimes too tall. 1/4 drive can sometimes do the job but the short handle makes it hard to break fasteners free. At the same time a 1/4 drive + 14mm stuck bolt is as likely to break the ratchet as free the bolt.

Looks like a rare case where most people like the product LMAO though it's more like 30-40% off

I have this same set to throw in the truck. I've used it to do work just to test it out and it's decent enough and also has a good assortment of hand tools.
