My sub expires on Sunday. I just bought a 12m code today. On Monday I'll do the conversion.

I bought the key from OP link. It redeemed just fine on VPN, then I redeemed a physical code I'd had laying around just fine.
Disconnected VPN.
Went to xbox.com, joined for $1, it converted 24 months of game pass ultimate.
10/10 works.
