Was really hoping to see this one get closer to 2k.
If you live on the west coast, find and call your closest Video Only store. They're advertising 77" C2 for 2299 but if you call in, they will offer 1999. Insane deals

I can't believe some people aren't worried about it. Best buy charges a small fortune for their burn in covering protection plan because it's such a high risk. What makes you certain that it's not a risk at all?

I'm on east coast so no Video Only option for me so I'll wait until after CES or closer to the Super Bowl. I'm thinking we'll see a 2k price by then

It absolutely is not a high risk unless you abuse your TV, and even then these recent models are likely smart enough to counter any problems. What makes you certain these companies would not engineer effective guardrails to prevent burn-in?

The fact that even models from 3-4 years ago are still showing burn in and the fact that few warranty services cover it and those that do tend to cost a fortune or have horrible reviews if they don't gives me reason to believe these new models are likely similarly susceptible to burn in, especially since they get even brighter than older models which means more heat and wear on each little led. what proof do you have that they have overcome these challenges?

Sounds like you had a bad experience and I am sorry you got burned.

This is far from normal experience especially in newer OLEDs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlP2kwNqXNA -- 3 year old test so not even latest models. We investigated the risk of OLED burn-in by displaying varying content 20 hours a day on a brand new LG E8 OLED TV for more than 6 months. We found no sign of permanent screenburn after putting on more than 3700 hours on our LG E8, confirming that OLED burn-in is extremely unlikely as long as you vary your content, and put the TV into standby rather than power off at the mains so that the normal compensation cycles can run to clear up image retention and reduce the risk of permanent screenburn.

p.s. I remember people saying this about plasma TVs which had stopped being an issue by mid-time of its popularity cycle. The early plasma had an issue just like OLEDs, then a few releases the manufacturers learn how to handle it. At this point in the OLED technology cycle, for most users who dont leave it on 24 hrs a day watching CNN/ESPN and also don't let the TV run burn-in protection cycles, burn is extremely unlikely.

It's why I avoid most new technologies for several years. OLED is now mature and safe to buy IMHO.

FWIW I got some burn in on a 65C7 after 3 years of usage and LG replaced the panel for free.

I seriously can't believe they are still making money on burn in insurance coverages.

My c1 was dropped and broke. I replaced it with a hisense u8h 75, which impresses me a lot. Especially with hdr. The hdr is more impressive than oled and blacks nearly as good. I keep getting tempted to swap it out for the c2 77, but honestly I don't think it's $1000 better
Good it broke as OLED is likely a waste for your use so you saved some money, smart move on your part!

When I put an OLED into Filmmaker mode next to cheap mid/low end TVs it blows away the cheap TVs but I have the visual acuity to notice.
