The $199 15.6in Asus Vivobook 8GB/256GB from Office Depot a few months ago hasn't been beat yet afterwards. Bought it for my mom, and I wish I bought 1 for myself then.

For Windows yes. There is an ASUS Chromebook for 179 that is not bad either. It has Touch screen , 2in1, backlit keyboard, bright screen, USBC Charging and , 8GB Ram too.

All the 11th gen cpus actually perform solidly. I have an i7 in this ideabook i'm using, but the i3 is going to be close in the real world because thermals matter more than outright speed these days.

Of note; a 4 or 8GB stick of RAM can be added to the onboard 4GB it comes with. It also has a backlit keyboard.
