Will the 8gb RAM suffice heavy web browsing? Like say equivalent to 16gb in chrome OS machine with 12th Intel i5?
No! That disgusting 8gb feels ok in the first 2 months and then slow down significantly, even with minimum use of office and chrome!
It performs similar with another of my i3-1220p 12gb laptop in the beginning but slower than the i3-1220p afterwards. I sold the MacBook because of this.
It is renewed and then sold to someone and guy returned it. So now it's renewed open box, the worst ever condition that probably is not even better than a "used"
It will do great with lots of tabs open but if you're just web browsing id always recommend the 9th or 10th Gen iPad. The galaxy tab s7 series, s8 series, s9 series or the pixel tablet.
If you find those on sale. 9th Gen iPad is $250 on sale and pixel tablet is $399 but you can find a used iPad 8th Gen and trade it in to get $399 off the pixel tablet right now.
They're so easy to carry, excellent battery life and run so smooth.
Ipad ??? . Just use yournphone the.. I mean people just live in their own bubble

why is that? any idea? thats really odd for a machine to behave like that.
Bought it at this price 2 years ago from Amazon. For those who like to complain about 8GB, it is more than enough for many tasks and then some. 99% of users will be fine. For the 1% needing video or audio production, stop being cheap and buy a Pro. You give this great value machine a bad rep.

No. Been there done that. Not even good for regular 5tabs chrome and office.
MacBook never allow you to add ram after 3rd gen intel, which is 10 years ago.
