Consensus for older models is that V10 > V8 > V11…13 > V7 (paraphrasing older posts on the dyson vacuums from slick deals). This ranking is based on pure value. Newer models have some fancy features but have significant costs.

V10 and V8 are comparable. V10 has a great design and sucks hard. V8 is the easiest to open and empty and balances battery life and power.

Everyone here agrees the fluffy head is a game changer. I love it.

Just got this over all the other Dyson vacuum deals(older and newer) the past few days. Did too many hours of research to finally decide on this. If you're in the market just buy this because I did all of the research for you.

So I did little effort with shark/samsung/other lesser name brand vacuums to be honest. But from what little i gathered. Shark Stratos has some great reviews!! However its two lbs heavier! I could also care less about BB&B things!!! So i guess that would be preference if you shopped their frequently! Dyson has a superior suction according to reviews and in my opinion, looks better! And comes with many more accessories to play with! hahah

It's like buying a performance car from a non-luxury brand and a luxury brand with almost identical specs. Again.. personal preferences. My comment was for dyson buyers!!! I've wanted one my whole life!!! And I finally decided to bite the bullet!! I would also hope resell is better if it came to that.

Good luck on your choice though!! I see nothing wrong with the Shark!!! Just little attachments! You can have best of both worlds!!

There are ton of generic batteries for all kind of Dyson (including V6) on Amazon. In my opinion, those batteries are much better and less expensive than the original Dyson.

I'd stick with companies that specialize in floor cleaning. Samsung dabbles in too many products and abandons them easily. You can get spare parts for Shark and Dyson just about forever.

Ughhh.... I'm going to return my V8 absolute $280 deal and I ordered this. Along with the vacuum itself the dock was a huge draw for me! Plus my cb is 10% now instead of 6 along with chase 5%. This site really gets to me sometimes. Lol

You made the right choice. The V8 at bestbuy isn't an absolute and doesn't come with the Dyson Fluffy Head for hard floors, which sells for $100 extra. The absolute models include it, and as a bonus this has a docking station to hold everything. Dyson never made a dock for the V8. So for $120 extra you're getting $250 worth of extras.

Then there's the design. The V8 has the charging port under your palm. That's fine until you are sweating while using it and start getting small shocks from the port. The port moved on later designs because of this. Since the motor and bin are inline on the V10, it has 25% more suction over the V8.
