If you care about good audio, look for reference premier deals...not reference.

And further, can such deals be found at this price point for those who are willing to wait? Or is this best bang for buck at this price?

Reference Premiere speakers are positioned as the more premium option of the two speaker lines. In comparison, the Klipsch Reference line of speakers is a more affordable, entry-level option.

There's a deal right now on this line for an entire system. I have the lesser Klipsch line but just can't justify upgrading. Wish I had bought these from the start though.

Klipsch Reference Premier Speakers: 2x RP-280FA, 2x RP-600M, RP-404C, Rel HT/1205 Sub $1749 + Free Shipping

Yes there is always a more premium sounding option.

Now whether it's worth the extra money can only be defined by each person listening for themselves.

This holds true to what is considered good or bad audio, there is no universal definition to it as you can tell in all these discussions.

If you're okay with refurbs, Harman Audio has JBL Studio 590s for $350. Unlike TVs, gaming consoles, etc., a good set of speakers tends to last decades. Good area to not cheap out on.

Depends if you need floor standers. At this price range it's usually better to get bookshelves. And if you are going to be using a sub with them for home theater even more reason to go with bookshelves since the sub can handle the low frequency much better than even some more expensive floor standing speakers, a good sub anyway. And these really aren't for music anyway, they are for home theater with the atmos addon, and really the bouncing Atmos is really not worth it.

The kef 150 pair are still at thier bf price of $300, then put the $200 you save towards a better sub. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kef-...Id=5913623

If you can't rip apart your ceiling (and the ceiling isn't vaulted or some other odd configuration), upfiring Atmos speakers can work very well. I have four Klipsch add-on modules and I like them very much. They also do a great job with music, so you have a sphere of sound around you.
If you don't have an Atmos-capable AVR, then it may not be worth the investment, but, if your AVR supports it, upfiring Atmos is vastly better then no Atmos.

You don't need to rip apart your ceiling to do real height speakers. I did mine in an afternoon with wire runway and some Polk OWM3 speakers that are super simple to mount on ceiling or wall. And you can get them in white, mine blend right in, I have to point them out for people to notice them.

No WAF, then, eh? Wink

I bought a similar bundle but with the klipsch subwoofer. I think it was $1600. Very nice sounding but beware of the size. They are freaking huge and heavy.

I'd stretch to the RP-280fa deal at $700 if considering these. For the the extra $200 the Reference Premier are well worth the difference.
