    This is a proper Windows laptop in the form factor of a large tablet. The big deal about Surface Pro devices is that they weigh about 800 grams only. I'm on the third one now (have had the 4, the 5 and the 7). I don't think there is a substitute if you travel a ton. All first class airport lounges are full of them. I'd rate them about 3.5 star, yet I keep buying them as there is nothing that comes close in the Windows world. You are NOT limited to the MS store. You can install any software on them that's written for Windows.

    the Surface Pro 7 is Gen 10 Intel (as opposed to the latest Surface Pro 9, which is Gen 12). That's why it's so "cheap". "Cheap" is of course relative. Surface laptops (the latest ones) always start at about this price, but for an incredibly underpowered configuration that is virtually not usable. Something speced like this costs $2,0000 when new. (MS took a page out of Apple's abusive playbook sadly). So this is a good deal on a top-speced device that came out three years ago, if you can live with that.

    Just my experience. Over the past 4 years I've been handling a lot of my lab's computer issues. We use surfaces so we can bring them around if we need. I've had 3 older surfaces where the ribbon for the screen starts to disconnect and screen stop turning on (pro 3). One battery expanded (pro 4). 2 of those replaced with refurbished pro 4's from Microsoft. Replacement for expanded battery died after 3 months and it didn't recognize the hard drive anymore. Not under warranty.

    2 other pro 3's go out and we expect a new person. Get 3 surface pro 6's. One still running fine, one died a month out of warranty, one didn't recognize the hard drive out of the box.

    Haven't had any issues with the surface pro 8's I got last year but YMMV.

    I have a similar SP7 with 10th gen i7 processor. I like the computer quite a bit, but I do wish I had gotten the i5 version. I don't need the power and the battery life is not as good with the i7. Really, I should have just waited a few months and gotten the SP8 i5...

    Curious, what's the main use for this? Is it a limited laptop or overpowered tablet. Can it run any android apps or are you stuck to the Microsoft store/windows programs? I have a specific use in mind but wondering how well it runs incase I want it to double up for other uses

    Having a laptop specifically built for Windows with near Apple quality and pricing. Some people don't appreciate PC manufacturers including crapware with their Windows machines.

    I won that case and that case wont solve his keyboard question. The case is a winner as a case, no keyboard included.
