These look pretty nice and already on the Makita platform, but for fairly rare use I use a corded model from Harbor Freight that certainly has worked good enough so far (4 yrs); I think I originally picked it up for like $60.

From the WOOT listing... "Hey Prime members! Did you know you can get an EXTRA 10% off this item (maximum $20 discount) if you purchase it on the Woot! app? It's true! Offer valid 11/26 only." $359 on AMZ, $419 on Home Depot

Looking at this and the Ego chainsaw. Anyone have any suggestions on which one to get?

Makita is more of a pro/premium brand with a longstanding reputation.

So this one goes for 420 at depot? I bought Ryobi at depot for 120 10 inch but this is really tempting.

Copped one, the $20 discount showed on the final checkout screen. Basically negates the tax.

FYI, this deal does indeed include 4 batteries. The photos in this SD listing incorrectly shows only 2 batteries but when you click the link you'll see that Woot is selling the kit that comes with 4 batteries (photos and description).

I have the 16" version of this model and it's a beast. I imagine this 14" version works just as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this one.

Solid deal. Best I found was $341 after tax for the 16" version after returning the extra batteries. Just get a new bar for this one if you want longer.

This was on Woot last month for about $5 more. It's a good deal if you're in their battery line. A couple of people on the last SD post complained about the Woot warranty only being 90 days, but I believe Makita's 3 year warranty would still cover. I believe you can also put a 16" bar on this saw, but can't 100% confirm.

Same, use rarely but corded cheap chainsaw works breaking down tree brought down by strong winds. Use my dewalt pole saw most often

I own this chainsaw, it is powerful but chews through batteries, the 2x 5ah batteries should be good for 8-10 18" trunk cuts. Perfect for around the house but don't take it out to cut a cord of firewood without plenty of extra batteries. Love mine

That's relevant. Though what I have found is having too many "extra" batteries just creates upkeep as they do require some level of monitoring and maintenance charging to keep them from draining completely and just dying. Over time I have found for my use case it's far more efficient (cost, space and time) to have no more than six batteries, three sets of small, medium and large for the various tools and DIY/Home Improvement projects I do. More than that just creates more maintenance work and takes up valuable space.

Mind you, I'm not a contractor of any sort, just a married shlub with kids, maintaining a house and helping some neighbors and family members do the same.

Thanks op ! I picked one up $275.59 through the woot app. Because I'm deep in makita this is a no brainer. The 4 batteries will put me at 20 total. I was thinking about getting the 4 battery 7 1/4" rear handle circular saw for $250. Just for the batteries but I already have the saw so this worked out great since my 3 sthil gas saws need work that would have cost a lot more than this purchase...
