This is a blood pressure monitor... High blood pressure (heart attack and stroke) is the leading cause of death. In fact if you cut it in half it would still be the #1 and 2 cause of death ahead of cancer.

I think you're thinking of a pulse oximeter. Which has it's place outside of covid as well.

And this is a great deal on this device.

Bought 1. This is a perfect balance between basic no-frills BP Monitors and those smart ultra-simple ones without a display that requires connecting to a phone everytime you want to take a reading.

This one can work as a standalone device, yet seems to be capable of connecting via BT to a phone to transfer the readings.

And it's made by Omron, which is one of the trusted brands in this category of devices.

Edit: Maybe worthwhile to add the 2-year protection for $3 extra.
Also, Omron 10-series may be available through Walgreens for $60 after coupons if you're looking for a more premium model.

Blood Pressure is the "silent killer" - it is usually caught after it has progressed quite a while. I caught it when I saw my eyes were bloodshot when I woke up in the morning; a visit to the doctor confirmed that I have BP for a while... had to go on meds immediately. Got myself an Omron unit and have been recording BP numbers at fairly random times during the day (3-4 times a week) and entering it into Health iOS app... been steady so far.

Its always a good idea to keep trends for your heart rate (resting/exercising/sleep) and BP so that its easy to diagnose for changes in patterns. My doctor was super happy to see all the historic numbers (only heart rates at that time, now i have manually added BP in).
