That is fairly common. I prefer the satin so I usually search for that variety because I prefer it unless it is a steel like M4.
So the $10 is for the color alone? I'm sorta surprised. Thanks.

I've got a couple - every bit as good as $100 worth of Spyderco. This particular model is fairly large, FYI.
I'll probably pick one up, but I know nothing about this merchant. Sounds like no one else does either. Good deal for $30.

Oh, and plastic scales (handles).
Anyone who complains about the FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) handles on these knives is being ridiculous. My Tasman with the same FRN handles has been abused to hell and back, and I trust that thing with my life. It's the same thing people said about Glocks back in the day, and now every manufacturer makes guns out of Tupperware.

This is a great knife and my favorite EDC. Works great with basketball shorts or gym shorts because it's so light it won't drag on your pants/shorts and you don't even notice it. Compression lock is easy to use for one handed opening and closing.

As a knife nerd, I can assure you that the Para 3 Lightweight is indeed one of the world's best designed knives, LOVE IT! - however it is the CTS- BD1N steel on this version on sale that I take issue with, it's very mediocre. - What you want is something that won't rust and holds an edge forever, one of the newer super steels such as S90V, S110V or K390, the Para3 lightweight has been made in some of these in the past, such as S90V - it was also made in M390, another great choice. Make sure to get the newer improved model with fall-shut and the wire clip mounted at the very end of the knife. (which this model is, and has both of those features) - Don't get me wrong, this is great deal - I have this knife in S90V, but I had to pay $200, worth it to me to never get dull.
I just ordered my first spydercos before reading your info. I'm second guessing if I should look at different blades. I got a native 5 in s30v and a delica 4 in vg10. Would I be better off to cancel and pay a bit more for the s90v or k390? Thanks in advance for your help!

The problem you would have is finding a Para3 in S90v - they rarely ever come up for sale. I don't think this particular knife was ever made in K390, but the best keychain knife you can get was, the Spyderco Manbug.

Those are fantastic blade steels - I have blades in both S30V and VG10, and I honestly think those are the sweet spots of price to performance. You can spend more, but you get diminishing returns in performance beyond that level. Hell, I've been extremely happy with my $15 Morakniv and $30 Kershaws. Spending more than $40 on knives is like buying watches - if it makes you happy, it's worth it.

Just want to add. This ad led me to take a look around the webpage. Compared to every other Spyderco sale on sd I found the best deal on the paramilitary 2 in s45sn for $120 bucks. How is this not being mentioned?

I've heard from various reviews that K390 keeps an edge for a super long time. So great steel in that regard.

The problem is that K390 is supposedly super difficult to sharpen. Even for those very experienced at sharpening knives.

So this should also figure into your decision.
