If they want to play: Your best bet for totally new beginners would be something like the Pokémon Battle Academy set. It has 3 premade decks, accessories, and directions for about $20.
If they just want to collect: Get a set that has some kind of special holo cards and a bunch of booster backs.

I think the Elite Trainer boxes might be something to get them once they get into it a bit and start making their own decks.

The Pikachu and Zekrom box (10 packs for $30) is going to be your best bet for a variety pack, otherwise the 6 silver tempest for $18 is solid is you want to go after the newer set, pretty good all around

There's not one in there that are cards-only seems like. My nephew only wants the cards lol

looking at the stuff... all the evolving skies is gone lol. that would of been the best thing. That zard box will always give a good return in the future. Anything with pikachu also (since hes the mascot). and zard doesnt show up in any of the newer sets so thats not anything to chase. The trainer boxes are also the best investments as far as sealed products go.

everything else is just products to rip open for fun.

Makes me happy all the talk is over Pokémon and not MtG; the way things are going for that game it's in a nosedive. Good riddance IMO.

If you bought from target, give them a call to price match. I purchased mine on 10/19, and got $30 back after calling to price match GameStop. They tried to claim the gamestop UPC was from a 3rd party vendor, but I quickly shut that down.

I doubt it. The Sword and Shield era sets have been over-printed to hell. Look at the PSA population reports. There are more 10's on individual cards from this era than on entire sets combined from older eras They also came out at a time when a whole lot of people saw the market spiking on older sets and decided to buy and hold. I know people who have never collected anything who have bought thousands of dollars in sealed products to hold and flip.

Steam Siege and Crimson Invasion are still available near the original MSRP. I would expect the same for most of the S&S sets 3-4 years from now. Supply and demand is undefeated. The best S&S sets (Evolving Skies, etc.) should appreciate nicely, but no one is going to pay a huge premium for trash like Rebel Clash, Darkness Ablaze, S&S Base, Battlestyles, or even most of the middling sets from this era

Now, if you mean it's a great time for genuine collectors and kids/parents of kids to get things at reasonable prices, then sure.

For $10k, what Pokemon products would be with investing in for the next 10 years for:

A) the best return
B) the coolest products to give your kids?

My quick research shows these crazy graded poncho pikachus, Mario brothers themed pikachus, and complete base sets (which might take up more space)?
