Edit: Whether this is a good deal depends on the interest rate charged.

Use debit card.
The interest amount is baked into the payment installment plan you select during affirm checkout. How would using a debit card help ?

Sorry it's late and I misunderstood the question.

So I tried it and over three months they are only charging me $3 interest on a $170 purchase.

On a $170.54 purchase (after tax) payments are $49.81 /month for 3 months = 149.45
I'm getting $24 off with the code - $3 interest. It's a savings of $21 or 12% off the after tax price. Still seems like a decent deal unless there is something I'm missing.

Almost checked out, thinking that I would avoid interest by immediately paying in full, but they already put interest in the balance for each payment.

Lame.

That's what I initially thought as well, that I could use a debit card and pay without interest but there's no avoiding it.

Payment plans seem to be 3/6/12m, with interest applied on each. The discount is misleading in the end but it's still better than Zip: doing the math of what I bought it and paying out asap, came out to about 13% off. It's useful for those who are on a tight budget but can pay out in slower times too, though obviously it'll keep shrinking the discount value the further out you go. Which for some is still a perk as 6 months on this should be pretty similar to Zip's 4.

I just placed order and did login into Affirm. They showed $10 fee for 3 months but at final screen they showed $14 extra but I still went ahead. Account dashboard is showing emi with +$14. I dont think we can ignore than fee. Also, I dont see any link to pay off this loan.
But one thing is for sure, you are trapped with your purchase now even u want to return, you have to pay that interest with Affirm.

According to their loan docs from the lender, you can pay it off early, more than likely it will take a few days for the loan to "process" before there is a way to pay it off though. Newegg does not invoice until they ship the item, so ill check mine later and see if I have the option to pay.

"12. Your Right to Prepay.
You may prepay your loan in full or in part at any time without penalty. You understand prepayments will be applied to your loan as set forth in Section 7. You are entitled to a refund of any amounts you may pay to the Loan Holder in excess of the remaining principal balance and accrued interest as of the date of prepayment. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you agree that the Loan Holder may set off any amounts you are entitled to against any amounts you owe the Loan Holder on any other loan or otherwise."

"Prepayment: If you pay off early, you will not have to pay a penalty, and you may be entitled to a refund of part of the finance charge."

Finally getting rid of my r9 285 2gb, should be a bit of an upgrade lol.

It takes a couple days before the purchase will process. Once it does, you can pay it off and avoid fees/interest. Ive been using affirm for almost a year and always pay off early.

My loan "confirmed" and I have a "make a payment " option. One of the options is "remaining balance" for the exact Newegg charge. So yes, you can avoid the interest and pay it of early. Too late for this deal but FYI if they offer it again.
