If you are making candy on the regular, the improved accuracy is worth it.
For typical home use? Not really worth it unless you're a BIFL type of person.

The probe is much harder to pull out from the body.
The display is almost constantly upside down and you have to rotate it and shake it, etc, to get it right side up.
The lighted display comes on when you don't need it but not when you do.
And for whatever reason, it seems slower to read and much more inconsistent with readings.
"The enemy of good is better" was very true for me in this case.

This. Critical of you also are a chef, or compete in competition BBQ, bake off's, etc. love mine and have been using it for years. I do compete, but being able to get the precise temp almost instantaneously is ideal when you are trying to reach a specific "cooked" range. There is a fine line between the meat being flavorful and moist vs rubbery and dry.
