For anyone that wants to be able to fix their own machines when they inevitably die, you may want to steer clear of Breville. They are notoriously built for "one use" only, meaning they have proprietary screws and parts and are built in such a way as to intentionally keep you out and keep you from replacing what is probably a very inexpensive part.
As someone who has taken apart two different, VERY complex superautos, and rebuilt, I definitely frown on this practice. It's wasteful for one, and anti-consumer for another. Gaggias and their ilk are great IMO not because they produce any better shots than this would, but for that primary reason.

Amazon has it for $425 but from the sale seller.
Also... for what it's worth I paired my machine with a Niche Zero grinder and the results have been fantastic.
That's the one you want along with a quality grinder whether manual or electric.
This + grinder will give better results. I highly recommend the df64!

Curse!!
I heard that the pro is a better machine. But the grinder is meh so in the end you're paying more for a better machine but you still have to buy a decent grinder for either maximum the extraction
Flair is currently running 20% off sale, and I bet it can outlast any Breville machine if you care about longitivity.
I have had Flair 58 for almost an year, and recently bought Breville Dual Boiler. But I returned the BDB within a week because it just couldn't produce as much complexity and flavor as my Flair 58. Besides, why do I want to deal with all the potential machine maintenance and issues down the road? For heating milk, I can use either microwave or a dedicated milk frother.

Do you also have this problem?
Yeah, I remember the whole "have you hugged your Bambino today?" thing. I actually don't have that problem anymore. I think the main reason is that I use a nice aftermarket bottomless portafilter that I bought on Amazon. It goes on a little looser. I also put some sort of lubricant on the gasket a while back. I honestly can't remember exactly what i used, but I think that helped too Lastly, before every shot, I hit the one-cup button to run a little hot water through the group head. That definitely helps it go on easier.
It's interesting, I was going to say that the original portafilter is still tight, but I just did a test and, as long as I run some hot water first, it goes on fairly easily now too. No hug needed. I'm sure pulling hundreds of shots has helped too. Anyway, thankfully, the bottom line is that it's no longer an issue for me.
she also prefers multiple milky shots, not just a single.

But I think deciding between small vs large comes down to your specific situation.
Barista Pro:
-Much larger footprint, but also doesn't squirm around on the counter when you are portafiltering. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...ies/tongue.gif Could be a positive or negative depending on your counter space and how picky you are about how an all in one looks on your counter vs separates.
- Already has the non-pressurized baskets (not a huge deal, you can buy these for the Bambino for around $25 I think last time I looked, maybe less)
-LCD
-Built in grinder. Again, could be positive or negative. If you don't have a grinder and don't want to plunk down for a decent one, this could be a plus. It's not an amazing grinder, but it's definitely sufficient to allow you to grind beans that make a very good shot (depending of course on beans, tamping, etc). Definitely not a plus if you already have a decent grinder, or are bought in to the idea that you should spend 2x the grinder vs the cost of the espresso machine.
