According to comparisons I've seen in Digital Foundry videos, the performance of the Series S is often roughly on par with that of the One X. The issue will arise when games start dropping support for the Xbox One family of systems. I don't think you will need to worry about that for at least another year.

It may be that developers will continue to support the Xbox One generation at least at *some* level, given that they have to optimize for the Series S, and if you're already doing that, the One isn't *that* much more work. There are those that argue that this phenomenon is holding back developers from truly embracing the current generation of consoles, since they still design what is possible in games with the older generation's limitations in mind.

As long as Microsoft is still supporting the PC--and they have incentive to do so for PC Game Pass--I don't think you'll see an exclusive Xbox release that absolutely requires the new console architecture (though they may eventually drop the older consoles for performance reasons).

my understanding is that Jedi: Survivor coming out in March Will be Xbox Series X/S only
