I don’t care about that game.

Probably a solid deal now. I just had to call amazon customer service to get my $40 and that’s having ordered this 2 days ago ðŸ˜'ðŸ˜'. Seems many have not gotten their amazing credit (which that deal is now dead). Makes this look good.

According to comparisons I've seen in Digital Foundry videos, the performance of the Series S is often roughly on par with that of the One X. The issue will arise when games start dropping support for the Xbox One family of systems. I don't think you will need to worry about that for at least another year.

It may be that developers will continue to support the Xbox One generation at least at *some* level, given that they have to optimize for the Series S, and if you're already doing that, the One isn't *that* much more work. There are those that argue that this phenomenon is holding back developers from truly embracing the current generation of consoles, since they still design what is possible in games with the older generation's limitations in mind.

As long as Microsoft is still supporting the PC--and they have incentive to do so for PC Game Pass--I don't think you'll see an exclusive Xbox release that absolutely requires the new console architecture (though they may eventually drop the older consoles for performance reasons).
So is the One X better then considering it does 4k? The Series S only does up to 1440p

The Series S has a better CPU then the one x...so while the One X can play games at 4K 30fps the Series will play most games at 1440p or 1080p at 60fps. the Series S is more capable then the One X dont listen to anyone that says the One X is more powerful than the Series S

Is this console necessary if you own a Xbox one X and have no interest in game pass? I only play a few games a year all physical discs
Nope. I bought and returned the next day. Didn’t feel like an upgrade except for the quick resume of games. Your disc games are worthless with this console. Even if you have digital games, you may have to buy the enhanced X/S version of the game.

Games will run better on the Series S but will look better on the One X if you have a 4K TV.

Honestly, I wouldn't upgrade from a One X unless I'm getting the Series X. I don't personally think the One S is worth buying if you have a One X, unless you want a second console for a vacation house or something.

Devs have already started dropping support for the 1 series console. The new DC heroes game launched only on next gen along with a few others.

Faster load times on the Series S compared to One X in itself warrants an upgrade, or at minimum is a sign the S is superior. I have the Series S and when I'm playing Halo Infinite online with my buddy who is still using the One X, I'm always waiting for him to load.

Faster load times is mostly due to ssd. It’s really easy to put an ssd in the one s/x and then he’ll keep up with your load times just fine.

With the series s/x, a big bummer is for the folks who use discs still as their only option is the big daddy. My nephew still likes to trade his games in at GameStop and rent games from Redbox but doesn’t have money for the series x. I put an ssd in his one s to make it live a bit longer. It cured his load time problem but if games start releasing only for series then he’s screwed.
