Bought this , been putting it thru the ringer and so far so good. Only thing is for some reason even tho i know from checking task manager that nothing else is running, it shows in war zone / mw2 "total vram usage mw2 5500 , other apps 6000" making almost all 12gb of the gpu being used on extreme settings. Anyone else who owns this experience this ?

Make sure you have it on the Fullscreen Exclusive setting or else your GPU will still need to render apps running in the background.

Bought this about a year ago. Runs hot when playing intense 3d game with YouTube playing in background. Will burn your lap. However on a desk the cooling is very good and keeps the keyboard area relatively cool. It's a power house for gaming. I would recommend fast 32gb ram upgrade. At the time this did not have a mux switch but maybe this is a revision that has it. Mine also ran into a problem with sound breaking and making a high pitched noise which had me RMA. The replacement has lcd problem with a line down the screen at 11 months into warranty. Also the wifi card was not working at all. 2nd RMA replaced the screen but said the wifi was fixed with an OS reinstall. Working well so far.

Did you ever check to see if the Liquid Metal was factory applied properly? Maybe that was causing that high of temps? Someone in another thread mentioned the newer version with the updated CPU may have the Mux switch in Armory Crate. That would be nice, if true. Did you try different/updated drivers for the sound breaking/high pitched noise? Was it the speakers? As for the line down the screen issue as well, did they tell you what the root causes were for these 2 RMA's? How good is the RMA process in terms of turnaround time and the condition in which you get the laptop back? Is it all pre-paid shipping labels or did you have to pay one way? The nice thing about going Lenovo Legion route is they offer extended warranties up to like 5 years, at a reasonable price. But I've also read folks who tried to get replacement parts under warranty only to be told they were out of stock. At $1099.99, this G15 Strix is a pretty strong, competitive offering, if you manage to get a good one that stays good. I'm kind of worried about reliability long-term.

on ultra settings it has no problem and since it has the amd shift tech, it has most benchmarks i do 98% gpu bottleneck and 2% cpu bottleneck (which is what you want) it's been running strong for about a month now , mostly switch between fortnite, OW2, and MW2/warzone. does great no lag.

Does it have the Mediatek mt7921 network card? Do you have problems with it like a lot of other people? What are your temperatures when playing? Do you know what kind of ram is in it? I heard on an older model it uses a bad rank 16 ram and the guy on YouTube replaced it with a rank 8 ram and it improved performance

My friend gets about 100 fps with some tweak in settings playing 1440p in external monitor mode.

Yes it has the mediatek mt7921 network card, i do not have problems with it, it does get pretty hot when i run performance or turbo mode but fans are powerful and a bit loud, i don't mind though. temps are about 90 on cpu and 85 on gpu max settings

edit: forgot to add the RAM, i'm unsure but it's running at 3200mhz and it's SODIMM

edit 2 : found out via command prompt MTA4ATF1G64HZ-3G2E2 Micron for the RAM

I researched, that is a 1rx16 ram, looks like the newer model still uses the x16 ram, this guy made a video about this model, you get better performance with x8 ram https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XCeAdFqsKg

it's crazy though because on my PC with my 3090 it uses about 5000 and other apps always has 1000 or less vram used of the total, max settings with 4k monitor hitting 120fps

bought the asus g14 6800s
[I figured the 6800s and 6800m were about the same
Thought i was getting a better machine buying the g14 6800s since its newer... Also $400 more.
Should i have bought this instead?
