SVS cited increased shipping container costs for their 20% price increases last year. Shipping container costs are now back down to where they were before the pandemic and yet it doesn't appear SVS has bothered to reduce their prices back down by 20% to reflect that fact! Interesting, isn't it? As if this company wasn't already making enough profit margin to begin with.

Explain to her the benefits of frequency smoothing with dual subs and that even her seating position will now enjoy well balanced bass. I'm sure she will understand And appreciate the lengths you go to make sure her bass experience is optimal.

If that doesn't work tell her that there is a 5% off on dual subs or return customers.

If that doesn't work either tell her a single sub looks asymmetrical and dual subs look far better and proportionate in the room.

What makes you think that prices have come back down? Have you checked prices lately?
I'd have to check again but last I knew they were still very high with longer than normal ship times.

Most curious indeed!
I thought shipping was the only production and manufacturing expenditure in delivering a product to market

Lol so what you "demand" must apply to everyone apparently! 🙄

I paid the "premium" because I auditioned/compared Monolith vs SVS and I preferred the performance sound and feel of SVS in my setup.

Please remind me AGAIN why choosing SVS was so wrong of me?
You can do what ever you want and make what ever selections you want..

No one says you, or anyone else, has to make choices based on any logic or facts

There is a cost to their return shipping should you change your mind
Even if you dont use it you paid for it in your purchase price

You might want to remind killjoy that because he likes to tell people what sounds phenomenal and what doesn't based on his and everyone he knows "demands".

yes..he must be using logic...nod

I should remind him that people can and do operate and make decisions on whims and lack of logic
Yes please do because for some of us there is no "logic" of "facts" that supersede what we hear! 😜

There is a reason people audition things after reading all that logic and facts! 👍🏻

Ahhhh. Stuck between 2x PB-2000 (undecided on original or pro) and 1 PC-4000.

PB-2000 originals would be the most cost effective, but none of the new stuff, and I am not hugely fond of the metal grille.

PB-2000 Pro, with two of them, costs about the same as the PC-4000. They do have the new adds (app, nicer looking grille, and it is almost 2 inches less deep), but I don't know if those things are worth the added cost.

PC-4000 certainly fits the space the best, but then I would not be dual. And I think this model came out in about 2017-8 or so--don't know when it'll get refreshed.

I do have a larger space, 16x16 with 12 ft ceilings and it is completely open on one side to another large room. I'm mostly music, but want ported because of the size of the space. Pairing with RF-82 ii Reference towers which are no slouch but don't go below about 33hz.

Any opinions on this first world issue would be warmly welcomed!

I'd go with the PC-4000 so that when you inevitably want to upgrade, you can just add another PC-4000. Smilie

I completely agree, you do!

Luckily for some, there is "zero logic" involved when we finally AUDITION something, all we do is listen to determine which "sounds" better.

The great thing as you pointed out, the only right or wrong "logic" when it comes to a preferred sound is completely personal, no matter what anyone else calls it. 👍🏻

Broad question I would say it depends on a few things.
Do you have good proper placements for two Pros.
Will one pc cover enough of your seating area(s) to be satisfied.

The pc is incredible and goes much deeper than the Pros. It is also very handy if placement is an issue.

The Pros are no slouches and will go to around 17. Two should cover all your seating also.

For music, depending on content and preferred sound levels I'm not sure going lower is a big advantage.

I would suggest calling or chatting with SVS and posing the dilemma to them.

Their CS is extremely good and they will give you an honest and educated opinion which way to go.

Keep in mind you have 45 days to test it out.
If you find you picked the wrong one, there is no cost to you and they come pick it up.
You can then try the other, again at no cost to you.

Good CS is worth its weight in gold, there are no free lunches!

Oh..there is logic involved for many... well before they take the steps to audition the products they have selected in their control group

I do it that way and about every A/V person I know does as well

But I agree with you in that there are people that make selections on a whim and follow no process or logic whatsoever
