Housing in and around Iceland can be had for like $150 a night on airbnb. I actually would suggest NOT staying in Reykjavik and instead going south towards the black sand beaches and posting up camp there. As for activities, all of the above are free or almost free if you just rent a car and drive yourself. I suggest the following for a short trip:
- Secret Lagoon. Dont bother with the Blue Lagoon.
- Golden Circle
- Reykjadalur Valley Hike to natural hotsprings
- Black Sand Beaches near Vik
Personally, I would not purchase this option, especially if traveling with a partner. The roads in Iceland are fantastic, especially to the main sights and car rentals in off season are affordable. You do not need a 4x4 in winter if driving to the main locations (golden circle, ring road). Happy to answer any questions.
I would say 3 days is kinda short for Iceland, there are so many awesome sights to see, if you are making the trip already I'd want to stay at least 5-7 days.

I lived there for 5yrs and yes you will want a 7-14 days.its Spectacular
Edit- looks like you can extend your trip fairly cheap. If you are home to one of the Iceland Air departure cities you can put together a neat little week long trip. If you aren't at a hub you'll have to arrange your own positioning flights.
