I don't mind flying the 737 Max but to say nothing came of it is entirely inaccurate. There was found to be issues with the 737 Max that Boeing knew about in internal memos but chose to ignore those issues. It is entirely wrong to say "barely anything has come of it." A lot came of it. More 737 Max's would have continued to crash had they not fixed the issue.
That was like years ago and barely anything has come of it. Go dry off your wet blanket and don't be so dramatic. You'll be fine.

More likely to get hit by some idiot on the highway on the way to the airport then to be part of some CrAzY DrAmAtiC 737 MaX DrAmA
i just did a dummy booking lax-hnl, round trip and the promo code applied. i got $95 each way.

According to southwest.com it looks like the deal is still alive through (including) today.

The deals ARE out there -- enter CYBER30 in the promo code box when you first do your search, and you should see crossed-out prices with sale prices over them in the results for "Wanna Get Away" and "Wanna Get Away Plus" fares. Make sure the travel takes place between 1/10 and 3/8/2023 (this is 'low demand' season for US airlines so it's no surprise this sale applies to that time period).

I snagged a RT flight between BDL and CMH in February for $150 at the "Wanna Get Away Plus" fare rate (basically the same as their lowest tier but with higher point-earning rate). So happy I saw this SlickDeal!

Did he say " nothing came of it"??? I don't think that is entirely accurate...

you're serious? but they're not the only purchaser. what if the alternative airline you choose puts you on one - will you refuse to go until they change the plane? i mean you're right - it is a huge jump in risk of death from <0.0000001% to <0.000001%; that's 10x higher odds of dying!

We'll a lot came out of it… mainly quality assurance. Boeing started taking a lot of short cuts and management pressured to cut down on testing… the testing integrity has now been restored. Nothing is fundamentally wrong, but even skimping on things like manuals and pilot training to is bad

I know someone who flies for southwest and has 30,000 hours flying JUST in the 737. From day one he said there's nothing wrong with the MAX that it was a training issue of the pilots. Even after reading some of the "official" findings I tend to agree he was right. The downed planes were largely due to pilot error even taking into account MCAS not being part of boeings training on the upgrade.

If I recall the pilots that crashed didn't have a lot of hours.
Wow. The amount of ignorance with each of your replies trying to protect Boeing is amazing. It's a fact that Boeing knew there was a problem and chose to hide it than fix it, Even after several planes crashed, they blamed the pilots. Eventually FAA found out and they were grounded for a long time. And now Boeing is "lobbying" (read bribing) the US Senate to get around the legal requirements for the alerting system which was supposed to be in place on all Max planes by this year end.

Yes, the other poster said "nothing came of it." Which was grossly inaccurate as I'm sure you're well aware. You can read my follow up posts explaining what I remember occurring. Been a while since I had read about it all, but I definitely followed up regarding the investigation, and Boeing repeatedly throwing the pilots under the bus.

Not just BA but the snake in the grass FAA is even more culpable for blatantly turning a blind eye to known issues, essentially for under the table money in many forms and ex airline members heading faa or connections somehow. There is more then enough evidence but 1) too big to fail 2) "national security" will let them skate free.

Other poster doesn't know what they're talking about.

Corporate shills are everywhere shouldn't be surprised, after all $D is owned by GS
