Buyer Beware: These Toshiba TV's are built exclusively for Best Buy. I bought one such Toshiba Chromecast Built In TV from Best Buy and it had many kinks. UI was pretty basic. No firmware updates. Buggy UI. Support process was convoluted. These Chromecast/FireTV smart TVs do not have direct support from Toshiba/Best/Chromecast/Fire for various issues. Better to stick with regular smart TV with manufacturer specific Smart TV OS.

$299 + Free Echo Dot 3rd Gen.

Generally positive customer reviews. "Pro" reviews less than kind about contrast and darkness of black color.

4.5 stars with 425 reviews on Best Buy.

Similar deal last month was $400 with free echo show 5

If you go to the bottom of the reviews section for the Toshiba, there are 3 "expert" reviews. All 3 rate it as a mediocre 3 out of 5 (no expert reviews for the Sharp). That said, the Toshiba is possibly a safer bet, while the Sharp has more upside and downside potential. The reviews for the Sharp have been very good except for 1, though none have had it long. Since I prefer Roku to Fire, I decided to roll the dice and stay with the Sharp.

I'm guessing this has no local dimming unlike the Sharp from Saturday? I'm still salty that I missed that one.

Edit: Confirmed, no local dimming, plus it is not a Roku or Android TV. Think I'll pass.

This or the sharp? Is there any tangible difference in quality or is it just Roku vs fire TV?

Is this a good deal? Yes, but only if you need a tv or have to replace one. I can't see this replacing
Any tv I already have…I have tv still from the 3d tv era that is running quite well.
I'm thinking I need better specs if I'm going to buy a tv right now. And nothing out there grabs
Me as a good replacement for perfectly good TVs I have right now.

Sharp is now $379.

Also I do not believe it has local dimming. Can you confirm where you see that it does?

I think they are referring to Sharps website. It lists "full array". But BB lists it as direct lit. Some suspect in the Sharp thread that it's just playing on words.

Completely agree. I believe it is the cheapest 65" 4k available right now so definitely a budget option. However could be a great option for people looking for a 65" to perhaps use in a second room or something!

Gotcha. Seems very word play-ish to me indeed. I personally doubt a $300 Sharp tv has true local dimming, but I could be wrong!
