These things are terrible in a dark room. I bought one a few months ago and had to send it back because of that. There's an "adaptive brightness" that can't be turned off so if your room isn't bright enough then the clock can get too dim to see.

Please note, this is the Alexa enabled version vs the Google Home enabled version.

I stopped buying Alexa products a long time ago when I asked:

Me: "Hey Google, how long does it take to get to <some other town>?"
Google: "By car, it will take you X minutes with current traffic."

Me: "Alexa, how long does it take to get to <some other town>"
Alexa: "I can tell you that <town> is X miles away, but because I don't know how fast you're going, I can't tell you how long it will take."

That's not the case anymore
Good, I'm glad they fixed that. But they still haven't fixed the issue of Alexa SOMETIMES mispronouncing the name of my town. I would understand if it was consistent and got it wrong all the time.

The Google knows I speed. It is always aware. Gets me there earlier.

Just a matter of time, gonna be a lot of crazy sales on stuff going into Xmas. Good to hear the LCD issue is fixed, I might have to grab one now.

I like the clock because it keeps the right time. I didn't need it for music. I wish the time will be displayed in red.

I would prefer a smart clock that has no mics or cameras. Just a 'dumb' touchscreen that isn't spying on me all the time. Does such a clock exist?

I just want one for time and temperature display. I have a years-old Google one with LED issues, that will go to electronics recycling.

These are good for $20, I wouldn't pay regular price for one.

The other ones have absolute garbage LEDs, I'd imagine these have the same screens

Is this the Smart Clock 2 with Alexa or the first model with Alexa instead of Google? I have the original Lenovo clock with Google. The LED lights get bright at night when I don't want them to, but I just tell Google to brighten the screen to 5% or so when that happens to dim them.

you can disable the mic w/the physical switch on the back, and there's no camera on this model

Any benefit of buying this over echo show?
Echo show has a better and larger screen. This one is basically like an echo dot. The new version of dot with or without clock display is supposed to have good sound, idk about this one. I have Lenovo displays for Google and they do not have the %100 functionality of a Google Hub and/or don't seem to get the same updates.
