This thread is talking about the "Smart Clock Essential", which has a simpler LED non-touch display, and uses Alexa.
The brightness controls are different due to the different display types.

I just ordered the red one. I used the discount code and had reward points and free shipping. Good basic alarm clock with Alexa. I hate bright alarm clocks. This gets very dim, perfect for me. Other basic controls are in the app.
The other clock mentioned is their other newer model (Smart 2). It is Google based with a touch screen. Looks like an improvement over last years Google version. I am used to Alexa/Echo devices and prefer the Echo Show 5/8 over Smart 2. Just my preference.
So, two very different clocks. The more basic version with Alexa works better for my needs.
A couple of annoyances with the Essential now that I have set it up... the blinking clock colon cannot be set to unblinking, and if you turn the mic switch off you get two red lights that come on and stay on the clock face. All remedied with black electrical tape pieces, but I would have preferred a customization option for those.
Never mind, it helps to remove the thin plastic film on the front of the display, it was covering both mic's. now works much better
I received one of these yesterday, I also have the version 2 with LCD on the way.

Anyone that has this basic clock have issues with the mic? I can't find a sensitivity setting and we have to yell just to get it to respond.
