look into moca adapter instead of this if there a bunch of cable tv outlet around the house. Way more reliable to reach full advertised speed and don't have to worry about cross breaker / surge protector,

Ooof, those speeds are horrendous (just like they were years ago when this technology first showed up). 250Mbps with ideal wiring and circuit configuration, some seeing as bad as 40-60Mbps for their setups. As someone said, go MoCA if at all possible. I was dubious until I tested it myself and sure enough, true gigabit speed and latency under 5ms.

That's because this product works well for some homes and not for others. This is entirely dependent on your homes electrical wiring.

I agree moca adapter is much better than powerline adapter.

These work great in my house built in 1990. If you have an OLD house, or something strang with the wiriing,you could have issues. But I have 4 or 5 around my house. Plug in anywhere, and a gigabyte connection appears! Perfect for adding a network hub behind TVs, gaming rigs, etc!
I love mine!.

I second that. I live in an older house too difficult to wire for Ethernet so I've used 10mb Slinglinks, then 100mb Slinglinks then the DLink 200mb Powerline kit. I have to admit that they served their purpose nobly and reliably for years, always beating out wireless.They are finicky though if around surge suppressors or if you have wiring faults or line noise.

I finally went mostly to gig MoCA. I also have four 200mb MoCA APs for IOT devices scattered around the house. We don't have traditional cable so I disconnected my Coax from the road. No leakage, security or noise issues and my connections are all rock solid. MoCA is definitely the way to go if you cannot wire the house.

I have cable in every room, but the its a separate cable from each room that all go outside and used to connect to a switch for DishNet Satellite. I now use streaming and so those cables are now just there connected to nothing. Would this Moca adapters work in this scenario?

Agreed, but I've always been happy with the speeds I have with a competitor's products. I have lived in three homes built since 1980 while using them, so that might have something to do with it. I have 1800 Mbps products, and I actually manage to hit my ISP's advertised 100 MB/s during internet bandwidth testing. I've always had better results than when trying a WiFi solution.

For those with cable in their homes, certainly go with moca options if it's on the table.


There is a bit of confusion on what these are. They basically turn a power plug into an Ethernet plug. You put one at your router and one at a remote location where you want to plug something into that router. You can link additional sets as needed, so you could have one connected to your router, one to your media center, one to your office, etc.

not sure how that dish switch going to impact things, but moca will work over coax splitter. so if you can unplug the couple cables you need from that dish switch, then it will goes something like this router -> moca adapter 1 -> cable -> splitter -> cable -> moca adapter 2 -> ethernet port on device .
