So many people on SD knock the echo 5. IMHO it's a great little device - especially for the price. We've been systematically replacing all echo dots in our house with these as they are basically an advanced alarm clock. If you are looking at them as a tablet replacement then you are going to be disappointed. But for the price, they are quite good. I can pull up my security cameras, put a show on in the background, see what song I'm listening to on Spotify, and get a visual display when asking for the weather or any other question to Alexa. The echo 8 is obviously better but it's also 2x the cost for 3" bigger screen. For me and many others the echo 5 is a great value.

Because they're sold at/below cost? You're mad that they maybe don't monetize your personal data as well as Google?

Can I return the kids one if I just want one device? The kids version is atrocious looking and I don't have children.

It looks like the 5 is charged at $25.45 so I could return it after delivery and get just the 8 for around $45.

They must have a new version on the horizon since the 8 was $70 on BF.

I bought the echo 8 yesterday for 69.99 did you just return and buy new then? Normally I call is why I ask. They will sometimes work with you.

Can I disable kids mode on the kids echo show 5? I googled and you can for the echo dot, but this is a different device. Does any know?
