Definitely no, either buy the SanDisk or Samsung for slightly more money. To me, this needs to be $25-40 cheaper than those models to make sense.

Avoid sandisk, they get really hot. To the point that you can't hold it during heavy use. YouTube the issue and you'll see it.

I have one and it definitely gets warm but not hot enough to be untouchable.

I have a SanDisk ssd and it gets warm as expected but nowhere near not enough to not be able to hold it.

Definitely not. Samsung is the best in the ssd game right now. This is a good choice but if they were the same price definitely a Samsung.

One of the best cheaper portable SSDs in terms of sustained writes, esp for QLC NAND, though only on the 2tb model. The 1tb and the X6 line have caches that are too small. The 2tb X8 has a very large cache so you're very unlikely to do direct to QLC writes (that are super slow).

It gets smaller and smaller as the space gets filled up. Why buy this crap for $10 or so less when you can get TLC drives (SanDisk Extreme v2 or Samsung T7 Shield).

As others have mentioned, if you don't really do a lot of large file transfers, this will be fine. I'm constantly moving 200-400gb of files around and speeds drop significantly to where I'm extremely frustrated. https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...able-ssd/3

At around 197GB, write speeds drop down to 100mbps. That number might be even less when the drive is full.

If you're not using sustained writes and deal with more regular file sizes, this will be fine.

I can use it as a handwarmer when fishing in winter. Thanks!

I use a 2.5" sized SSD in an enclosure with my Xbox and it works well. I've read too many issues with these really small form factor SSDs, so I suggest you go with the same thing I did.

A 2TB Samsung 870 Evo is $160 right now and probably has much better performance. Enclosures cost around $10 - $15.

I have to agree with doboys comment, SanDisk gets very hot on big file transfers,

Samsung doesn't get hot but it does get lukewarm. I also feel like Samsung has better transfer speeds on sustained writes.

That's not what a cache is...
