Good deal on Smash Up base game plus 4 expansion packs: both World Tour expansions, Goblins, and Knights. Regular priced at $100. Must use the link to add the bundle rather than adding separately from the site.
As a lover of hobby board games, I'm going to recommend passing on this game.
It presents itself as a simple to play game, but the rules are fiddly and the cards have walls of text. It doesn't work as a high level strategy game either because the deck combinations are unbalanced. So it doesn't really fit anywhere. This is probably why its rated a 6.7/10 on Board Game Geek, which for those in the know, anything below a 7 is a total piece of dog shit.
Save your money, and buy something else, or if you really want to get it, buy just the base game, and go from there. Buying a game with expansions that you haven't played is a rookie move!
I have this game along with a few other friends. The replayability is great because of all of the combinations (multiply that by the expansions too). There are definitely some overpowered combinations but once you learn them you'll likely prevent others from getting them.
As you get more expansions the rules definitely tend to become more "interpreted" as to when certain things are allowed to happen. But the rule book is sometimes helpful and online searches help.
I try to play this every time my group gets together because it's somewhat fast and enjoyable with how creative to get along with strategy.
Tons of 5* on amz. Based on Amz prices seems like a good deal for those looking, it's on my wishlist but I can't buy one more game until I work through backlog
Not bad, but it should be noted two of the expansions are single factions, so content wise for a new player it's more like the base game plus 2.5 expansions.
Great game overall though, one of my standard go tos. Really need to get some of the newer expansions, and actually get a group together to play more often.
I would totally recommend it! If anything, get just the base game which already comes with the original 8 decks/factions. Only reason I have it is cuz it went on sale for $10 in Walmart years ago and I thought, "why not?" for that price. Regular price now is $30-35.
We still love playing it! I like that it's a card game so no need to setup a board, but you do need table space. We have since acquired expansions ($20 each at the local comic book store), but we found the original 8 decks/factions to be the most fun!
As others have mentioned, there's tons of re-playability as you'll find yourself wanting to try different "smash-ups" the next time you play.

The whole online store appears to be 40% off. I bought a few expansion packs over the weekend that came up on sale once I checked out. I tested it and it appears to still work. No shipping cost appears, either.

EDIT: my mistake, must at least start checkout to see the discount.
