AUDEZE nuts
I love the sound quality. I've had mine for almost 2 years now. But the plastic they use is prone to eventually break. Mine just broke. It's out of warranty so they won't fix it. It seems to be a widespread issue if you check out the Audeze subreddit you'll see this comes up a lot.

They are pretty amazing otherwise. The wireless range kinda blows even under ideal conditions. The mic is pretty good.
Second this. Have a pair, love them. Headband snapped. Trying to decide if I want another pair of these or to try something new….

I've had these for well over a year and love them. I use them for work, gaming and when traveling I use them with my phone. I used to have 3 headsets now I'm down to just this one. I haven't had any issues like I've read above, but now I'm a little worried especially with my high usage… fingers crossed.

Just want to chime in on these. All the previous comments are spot on. They do sound amazing and at $169 they'd be considered a steal if not for the flaws in the headband and the Bluetooth range. Trust me, these WILL break at the weak point where the ear cups meet the band. It's not a matter of if, but when. Audeze will replace them though with no problem but you will get another pair of the exact same design that will break in a few months. I'm on my 3rd pair and I don't even want to use them now because I KNOW they're going to break from just normal everyday use. I wish they'd hurry up and release a better designed model because they sound phenomenal, even for the full $300 that I paid for them when they first released.

Appreciate the info on closed-back. 👍

Not being familiar with this headset, I'm not sure if the breaking issue is similar with a headset I have, where the hard plastic extends and will definitely eventually break. When that happened I made some very narrow strips of duct tape and wrapped it around the outside several times, but not too tight or too bulky. Seems to have worked for me, but again, I'm not familiar with how exactly these break or if the mechanism would even allow for a similar workaround.

If you are looking for them for gaming, I would pass. Im close family friends with investors so I get to test alot of their stuff. Disspointed on both my PS4 and PS5. The Gold/Pulse headsets were better.

Now for music, they are fantastic, as most Audeze headphones are.
wait I'm confused, Gold/Pulse headsets as in the ones Sony sells? that's a lava hot take

I've used mine for 2 years and paid full retail price, and even at that price I think they are the best bang for the buck, only thing that comes close are the pc38x. before I switched to a pricier setup with a wave3 microphone, these were my daily drivers. 2 thing cons I experienced, bluetooth always disconnected if I left my room to grab something from the kitchen, so about 35-40 feet, and battery life felt low, but I think that was because I left them powered on, but you can always use wired if they aren't charged. at this price I don't think you can get anything better

The audio quality is great. Basically best in class. I have the Nova Pro wireless, Turtle Beach Stealth Gen 2, Astro A50's and a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 pros I use for gaming occasionally. The penrose may beat them all if properly tuned. The problems are as you said. 1: wireless range, even sitting in a room 10 feet away with some minor obstructions it can disconnect and reconnect at an annoying rate. 2: Mic monitoring, it's very quiet and cannot be increased, for a loud person like me, it's not good enough. 3: Build quality of the hinges/band. I've had 2 break within warranty. Both broke within 6 months of normal usage at the swivel connection and had to be replaced . They're just aren't built to last.

Bought these when they were 199 from Adorama. Build quality is super meh, the comfort is just bad, and the range on the dongle is horrendous.....but man the audio quality is incredible. Comparing these to other high end gaming cans I have like the Beoplay Portals and the Arctis Nova Pro wireless, the Audeze just destroy them in terms of audio.

If you can deal with its quirks and problems I would definitely recommend them at $170, just get the extended warranty.

Was looking at this. Based on the snapping issues people say they have. I highly recommend the arctis 9x for Xbox or 9p for PlayStation. On Xbox it pairs like a controller and has Dolby support for 3d audio it's a game changer in halo. Can hear where people are coming from. You do have to pay 10 bucks give or take on Xbox to enable the Dolby support for headphones but it's worth every penny. Turns off automatically with Xbox power down. Can turn Xbox on if you turn on the headset first. Mic is great. Con you have to download steelseries app on a computer to adjust any of the settings. Not a big deal do it once and that's it.

A lot of comments here that I can't seem to replicate. Great for gaming, music, and movies. Have had mine for 2 years with no signs of cracking. The only one thing is the short range, but who needs to play their game from a different room. I use the Bluetooth for work and works fine mic wise. The battery does not last long, but it's fine and I just switch to my PC38x wired headset. And to the guy saying the pulse sonys are better, what are you smoking?? This is a great deal, but would be better if it were the "X" Version for Xbox since it plays on all gaming systems.

My son asked for wireless headset for Christmas and I have no idea what to get him. This price is a little high, but I could swing it. But based on the comments about durability I'd rather go with something else. He games on a PC, not a console. Any suggestions?

There are a ton of the on sale on Amazon right now but I have no idea what's good.

I was thinking these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MP4HT95/

Anybody use them? Or have another suggestion in the $100-$150 price range?

I've been using this for pc via 3.5mm jack since its launch. Amazing quality and even better planar magnetics for this price. Jump on this deal if you're in the market for ps5 and or pc headphones.
I was just going to ask if you can hardwire it to the PC? I have a really good audio card and I'd like to still use it instead of USB.

No excuse for that at this price point.

Take a look at the Hyper X cloud 2 Wireless [amazon.com], great durability and considered to have both good sound for gaming and a good mic. It's a nice start for a headset that doesn't break the bank.

I have these. By far the best sounding gaming headset. However, the wireless gets a lot of drops. Also, if you do get them make sure you get the wicked cushions ear pads. They make one now for the Penrose.

I ordered senheisers hd560s / pc38x and the hd6pro with their dac amp for free on cyber Monday. How this audeze compare? Thinking about buying just for comparison I guess.
