I'd never put a Lenovo product on my network.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences is a pure research entity in China, owned by the government.
I guess I'm screwed then because I have 3 Lenovo laptops, 2 Motorola/Lenovo cellphones and 2 of these clocks on my network.

Same price w/ free shipping via 3rd party seller @Walmart with Walmart return policy in case it winds up not being for you.

p.s. I was also offered a "sweet" 10% cb offer with the Walmart purchase.
Who gave u the Cashback? What does it rhyme with. Haha

So many state secrets they are attempting to siphon off your network; carton network files, Microsoft Groove username/password, and your AOL credentials…

I bought a few auto clocks for places around my house...over time they drift. I'm going to be slowly replacing them with smart clocks because like you said, the exact time is very nice. All of my other Alexa devices with clocks on them and our cell phones have the exact same time while my other clocks are 2 to 3 minutes off.
Mine do okay but they lose their wifi connections periodically and require a reboot to reconnect. Other devices like echo dots in the same areas have no such problems. For this reason I can't rely on one of these as a main alarm clock but I have one on my nightstand that is used as a clock and weather guesser. Can't use it as an alarm clock anyway, because no matter what I do it turns on the bright ass nightlight BEFORE the alarm goes off, which has woken me up annoyed. Okay as a Google speaker and clock.

You mean there isn't someone staring at a monitor watching and listening to my every movement, 24x7, just waiting for the one time a week I logon to my bank account? I've been led to believe that's how hackers operate.

Today, it's a clock. Tomorrow, your bank account, and then come the nukes, riots, feds coming for your guns, and imprisonment off all Christians. Beware of stuff made in China (unless you get a deal on a TV or iPhone or laptop or router or smart speaker or toaster, then just forget about it until someone mentions China).

Was able to buy this (Blue) a month ago. Worked great and then screen would freeze 1-2x a day. I registered it with Lenovo. They sent a replacement - 2 days. New one works great. Good warranty and CS. Guess I had a lemon. Remember to register for the 1 year replacement warranty, no cost, basic warranty. I just ordered the red one. I used the discount code and had reward points and free shipping. Good basic alarm clock with Alexa. I hate bright alarm clocks. This gets very dim, perfect for me.

The other clock mentioned earlier is their other newer model. It is Google based with a touch screen. Looks like an improvement over last years Google version. I am used to Alexa/Echo devices and prefer the Echo Show 5/8 over this. Just my preference.

So, two very different clocks. The more basic version with Alexa works better for my needs.

Got mine yesterday. I really like the display and it auto dims fine, however, the mic sucks. I'll say "alexa" and a command and it'll either sit there and do nothing or try to do something other than what I told it to do. "Alexa, garage off" will either do nothing or say "Do you want to drop in on <some device>" I have to get really close for it to hear my command correctly.

I'm with you on that, while I don't have the google one, I have an echo show 5 which I don't like as much as this simple clock. The only plus side of my echo show is that the mic is far better.

anyone knows how to change the timezone on this crap? the instructions here don't work. I think part of the problem is that in the alexa app it is shown as type "other" rather than clock or whatever should be

28. Why does the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential (Alexa) showing the wrong time even after connected to internet?

Clock purchased in the U.S. are default to Eastern Standard Time zone (EST). To change the time zone, follow these steps: Step 1: Open Amazon Alexa app. On the homepage, click on "Devices" at the bottom right navigation bar. Step 2: On this page, click on "All Devices". Step 3: On the list of devices, click on "Lenovo Smart Clock". Step 4: On the Lenovo Smart Clock page, click on "Time Zone". Step 5: Select the correct time zone you are in. Viola, you are done!
