Chevron Havoline Conventional Motor Oil 10W-30, 6 Quart Smart Change Box is available online at Walmart - It works out to $3.33/qt. Link [walmart.com]

This is conventional motor oil (non-synthetic) but has a SN rating is should be fine for older vehicles. With the price of crude going up, so has motor oil, so sharing in hope this helps someone stretch that dollar.

Good luck.

This is the everyday price. Nothing slick.

Also, it's SP rated. That means it's vitually guaranteed to be a synthetic blend disguised as a "conventional." I've yet to see a true conventional meet the SP certification.

I agree on it being the every day price. Actual oil deals are far and few between this year. I have noticed that Walmart does not carry as much oil variety in the store as compared to previous years. They seem to be going to a "website 3 day delivery to the store model" for many items.

However, this is a very good oil. My Jeep XJ takes 6 quarts, so this is perfect for me.

I bought some of this last year. When I went to use it, I noticed it looked "bad" in the bag. I thought maybe it was my imagination so I opened it and I poured it into a measuring cup first. It looked like chocolate milk. I don't know what happened, but I believe someone bought this, opened it and used it, and then put some used oil back in and returned it to the store. I don't know who would go through this trouble for some Havoline oil, but I can't imagine it came from Havoline like that.

SN i belive has been super ceded by ILSAC GF-6A/B specs (a is backwards compatibility. B has more stringent requirements, reserved for newer engines with GDI, turbos etc. If your car calls for 0w-16, (maybe others) only use gf6b rated as its was specifically designed for these new engines. Otherwise look for 6A for all other weights on your oil specs for older vehicles as that IS backwards compatibility. including this oil. I assume why this is labeled as SN/ILSAC gf6A as they are identical API requirements for oil specs and they are keeping SN on the boxes for folks that don't know the new best oil specs. I assume it will probably just switch to 6A after a year or two! I don't think 6B is anything other than full synthetic FYI, atleast what I looked at. 0w-16 is always going to be full synthetic

SN and ILSAC are two completely different things. Sticking with API ratings, SN has been superseded by SN Plus, and now SP.

Good catch, that's what I get for trying to comment on something at 1am without glasses 😂

Would they have had to reseal it? The bag has a top that you unscrew. I don't think the top has any kind of breakable seal on it. I think they probably were able to take the tape off from the bottom to get the bag out, refilled the bag with old oil, and then put it back in and re-taped the box.

Again, seems like a lot of trouble for someone just to get some oil. But the alternative is Havoline packaged some really bad oil at the factory.
