FAQ's:
- No, you cannot use Staples GC's to purchase these.
- No, these do not count towards your spend requirements for a premier membership.
- No, these do not earn you any Staples rewards.
- No, you cannot use coupons/ rewards to purchase these GC's.
- Yes, you can split payment between multiple cards (if your cashier permits it) YMMV
- The limit of 8 may or may not be enforced depending on your store/ cashier. YMMV

My Chase Ink gives 5% cb at Staples so I'll probably pick up a few to pay at some retailers where I just earn the minimum cb with a regular cc.

I had more than $8K on these prepaid Visa from last year's credit card manufactured spending. I have not lost a dime from any of them. Now I still have $30 balance on my final card. One thing worth to note is do not use these prepaid Visa/MC for anything you may return and get a refund coz it would take more than 10 days to have the refund credited back to the account.

Why is MC not as safe as Visa? Did not consider this, thanks.

From what I have heard (anecdotally) on the internet, I have seen more complaints with MC's being drained than Visas. Maybe they have improved and my internet reading is certainly not gospel - just my take.

Thanks, picked up a few from Staples yesterday using Chase Ink (5% cb at Staples). Already used half of it to pay off some medical bills. Will use the other half in the next few weeks for more medical bills.

Not stocking up too much on these because it looks like Staples has this no-fee offer every month or so.

I usually leave these cards with $2 balance so I can use them for those websites that pester for a credit card for signup.

Also, medical bills can be paid in denominations of pennies. I've used 6 different prepaid cards that are close to their expiry date for a $25 bill. Each had like $0.16 or $0.08 etc.
