It really doesn't, watts mean nothing without knowing efficiency of the speaker.

Speaker A may have more SPL with 60 watts than Speaker B with 500 watts.

That said, this is a very budget sub and isn't going to have high output. Watt's isn't the measure of a good or loud speaker. This unit will probably fill in the low end for some smaller HTIB style speakers, but shouldn't even be a consideration for a mid/high end setup.
aint that the truth! laugh out loud

Yes, this is OK for a small room like a bedroom or a studio apartment. If you have the money, I'd suggest getting the Dayton Audio one that's been on sale, since I think it's the better buy but if all you can afford is $50, you'll be happy with it.

Been thinking about getting this to add to a set of edifier 1280s in a smallish office. Worth it?

I'd get the elac 10" sub instead, it costs more but they're reputable, and andrew jones, the designer knows what he's doing.

Looking at doing the same. But, the 1280DBs I have goes down to 51, so this doesn't seem like it would help much. But, I like the price.

anyway i could pair this with a vizio "all in one" 2.1 channel soundbar?
its a nice soundbar but needs a bit more punch and you can add speakers directly to it sadly because of it

I added this to my vizio soundbar when it was last on sale and would not recommend it. Idk how to describe it but the sub just has verry little punch. When turned up it is more like an annoying attempt at bass rather than an actual low end kick. I would look towards getting something higher end imo

Decided to try it and I'm impressed. It's not gonna shake the house or go super low but that's not what I want. It does a great job of filling in the low end at reasonable listening levels.

Glad to know it worked out. I actually found an old yst-sw215 [yamaha.com] that looks new on facebook for $25. Seemed like a steal so I picked it up, and it sounds great. Like you said a sub really fills out the low end.
