The Corten Steel Dual-Flame Smokeless Fire Pit is a gorgeous weathering steel, near-smokeless centerpiece with a weighted steel lid to protect your pit from all forms of precipitation, including rain and snow.
Product Overview
The Corten Steel Dual-Flame Smokeless Fire Pit is a gorgeous weathering steel, near-smokeless centerpiece perfect for afternoon get-togethers, open fire cooking, lazy Sunday evenings, or any outdoor event. It features 5/8-inch holes in a double-wall structure that draws in air from the bottom 3-inch slots and feeds heated oxygen to the top. This air movement fuels the fire at its base and provides a rise in heated air through the vented holes at the top of the burn chamber. Then, vented holes near the top of the chamber fuel the preheated oxygen to the flame resulting in a hotter fire with less smoke and ash. Never worry about heavy smoke fumes disrupting your open-fire experience again!
While not in use, utilize the Corten Steel Fire Pit Cover to protect the pit of your Corten Steel Dual-Flame Smokeless Fire Pit. This weighted steel lid is made of the same tough Corten Steel material and will prevent rain and snowfall from entering the fire pit when not used.

Not sure where you live, but at least by me you can easily buy some "burn barrels" for under $20 off FB market place.
They are just spent 55g metal drums and way more suitable and cost effective for what you are trying to do.
Edit: looks like this the upgraded version with holes on the bottom. This is a great deal

It is made of weathering steel / Cor-Ten or A606-4 / A588 steel. It's designed in a way that a patina forms and creates a barrier protecting the steel over time. No need for a firepit cover or worries of staining, just leave it out in the elements and it will be fine for a very long time.
The style is a bit different but is used in tons of modern architecture.
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when this shows up in the mail.

It should darken over time and won't rust out unless exposed to excessive salt.
"Corten, or weathering steel, is a popular option for exposed steel elements. The rust forms a protective barrier and inhibits further rusting while giving the steel a rich and natural colour. Despite this property, you may want to paint it for increased longevity or for a different colour. In addition, Corten constantly exposed to water or salt spray can corrode faster than normal mild steel because the protective properties of the barrier are stripped away. Fortunately, it can be painted just like mild steel. Painted Corten has both the protection of the paint and its natural properties."
I have some decades old corten wind "chimes" and they have gotten quite dark. I may experiment with accelerated oxidation and see if this fire pit can blacken up. (Assuming mine ships)
I already have a 26" solo stove, this is cheaper than getting a lid for that pit. I plan on using this one for smaller fires and not have to worry about getting the cover on between it cooling down and it raining.
