As a counter to the positives - I got this one a recent deal, and am disappointed in it. I wasn't looking for a super close shave, but for me at least it never gets much closer than the 5 o'clock shadow level - it works ok, but it is not worth it imo

A OneBlade trimmer is the best one I've used in decades. Very easy to use and the blades easily last 4 months each.

I get razor burn with safety razors. This doesn't get quite as close, but it also doesn't leave red bumps on my skin. I use it wet in the shower without any trouble.

It takes me at least three times last time shaving easy to do but I wish you would tell us when it's done charging.

There are a lot of versions of the "OneBlade", one of them is called Oneblade Face & Body, which I think is probably more of what you're looking for. It's a bit more expensive at $35-$40, but it comes with an extra blade and a skin guard for...delicate areas.

All these people saying it's okay for grooming "down there", I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe with the blade guard but I wouldn't even think if using the bare razor for manscaping sensitive parts!

2x I have a teen who thinks he can use this to shave but I am not sure about that. Anyone have comments?
I use it to shave. Then I use my conventual shaver and then if I need a close shave then I use a regular shaver.

How did these get to be so much cheaper? I remember this used to be like sub $90 - $70 at Costco. What happened? Did they just mass produce these for people who were buying it out to shave their undercarriage?

A set of 2 OEM blades is about $22 on Amazon. A set of non OEM combs is starting at about $7.

Can't really comment on the combs. But the trimmer/shaver is great, especially if you have ingrown hair issue.
The OEM combs are a much better build quality. Tab on the original broke and wouldn't "click" in, so it would just fall off. Bought some cheapos on Amazon and from the get the tab wouldn't "click" and stay in place when using on my beard/mustache. I used another comb in the set that is slightly shorter, and it works fine. I'd spring on this set since the combs vary significantly. I'm getting another to keep the face and 🎾 work separate. TU!

If you are manly, and have thick facial hair, these blades last two weeks at best. Then you have to go super slow to get a normal shave. Also the thing throws hair EVERYWHERE! A decent BIC or Gilette razor is my future direction. I use this now just to get the mustache hair because it seems to pull less

Which would you recommend for a "close-enough" shave?

You may give it to your MIL but her only daughter will land up using to shave her beard
Why wouldn't the MIL be able to trim her own beard? Seems like a job one does for themselves.

I just ordered the pro version to give that a try. Been using the regular one for years and absolutely love it. However, it just up and died on me recently. I like that the Pro version has a lithium ion battery so it'll stay charged longer, has a shorter re-charge time, and has a battery level to show you how much charge is left. I'm also interested in trying the grooming accessory that comes with the pro. For $39 it seems like a reasonable upgrade price if you'd like to try the Pro.
