Ignoring amp how is this for tv shows/music/movies compare to 560S? And compared to fidelio X2?
I have the Fidelio X2 and it's excellent for movies and games because of the large soundstage and extra bass. I've tried these and they're slightly better for music, due to better instrument seperation and overall clarity. However they have less bass than the Fidelio X2's, so IMO these are not as good for movies and games.
These are better headphones but the Fidelio usually goes on sale for about $100 (I paid $250 five years ago). Are these three times the money better? I'd say no.

These are really good headphones, this is a fair price- if you're willing to call in and talk to American music supply or sweetwater, they may be willing to give you a discount. I paid $262 for them. Also I would recommend replacing the headphone cable, it will improve performance
Crazy - someone gave me a not helpful. Tough crowd lol

From my own experience you only need an amp if you want >90 dB of volume.
I have both the X2HR and the HD600. I got the X2HR first and really liked them at first. But I no longer use them and only use the HD600. Three main reasons: first, the HD600 are substantially better for music, the X2HR has uneven treble that makes them less accurate. The HD600 are considered neutral reference by many and it's true. If you're willing to EQ, the bass isn't that different between the two. Second, the X2HR became very uncomfortable for me after a few months. I can't use them for very long without them hurting now. Third, I think the HD600 will last better over time. The X2HR are nice looking, but have a fragile hinge on the earcups, and you can't easily replace the parts on it, unlike the HD600.
Are the HD600 worth $200+ more? For me they are, but it depends on what matters to you in headphones.

If by performance you mean convenience yes. The sennheiser cable is not a bad cable and you won't hear any audible difference. Cables are usually audiophile snake oil

Aren't the 6XX the 650? 600 is more of a flatter EQ. Have the 600 and they are great for everything and outstanding for classical and jazz. But if you need a huge bass response, the 600 isn't what you want.

I have the X2 and the 600 as well. I think the average listener would be happier with the X2's sound profile but the 600 is just more accurate. 600 are also way more comfortable for long listening stretches. The X2 are just heavy for long listening periods.

6xx are pretty much the 650 with a shorter cable and different color body. Drivers should he same, unlike the tweaked 8xx. 600 is more neutral than 650 I believe, which leans more on the warm and lush side and more bass.
Dr Dre Beats Executives are the best under $10k though.
The Sennheiser/Drop HD6XX are great (I own a HD6xx and love them) but for purposes of full disclosure are closer in sound to the Senn's HD650, usually considered not quite as perfect as the HD600. Note that all require a headphone amp and none are bass heavy. These are all about detail.

It was definitely one of those "buy now think later" moments.
