My view: Your boys are going to fight over the ONE gun they both want. Neither of them will want the little gun. The big gun's barrel and scope are gimmicks.
It's nice this Costco set includes 50 darts, and 3 guns. But I ended up with the 2 Target guns you mentioned for my 7yo and 11yo, and I'm sticking with those for the reasons above.

After thinking for awhile, I ended up buying 2 sets of this. It's $26 vs $16 for what I got at Target, but....the kids will each get 3 guns instead of 1, and 50 darts each. Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier when I responded to you, I only compared the options of buying 2 Target guns vs 1 package of this. If you're willing to shell out an extra $10, it would alleviate the negatives of the original option I mentioned.

These kids LOVE switching between guns, having a smaller gun to swap over to when the larger are out if bullets… this set will provide a massive boost to the play and allow more kids to play when friends are over!
