Seems like the reviews are somewhat bad for users on Metacritic. I enjoyed the original Dark Alliance quite a bit, is it that bad ?

I wouldn't even waste my time playing this game if it was gifted to me for free. It is just a waste of time/money when there are so many better options out there. Take a look through the Amazon reviews - they are pretty spot on.

I enjoyed the first one as well and was really excited for this, until I played it. Candidate for worst game of all time.

It was a day one release on Gamepass, and left that service June of this year. I could see being offered somewhere else in the near future.

For those interested, this game has nothing to do with the original Dark Alliance games outside of using Forgotten Realms characters. It was originally named after the Companions of the Hall, but was changed to something more familiar in an attempt to increase interest following negative early impressions. This one is a multiplayer "loot brawler" with mediocre combat, loads of bugs, and no online community.

Got this when it dropped to $20 ages ago. It was an ok looter action game, boring, but I was a huge fan of the source material, so I kind of enjoyed it. Loot was fun, but the game was broken. Literally walk up and kill bad guys or run by them and they wouldn't even react. It was fun because of all the loot possible...

Then they updated it and made the game impossibly hard, even in co-op, and decreased loot drops to near zero. Since it was impossible AND loot rarity was like zero, there was no incentive to keep playing and it died to me. Nobody was online and the game was abandoned as far as I know, by the developers and players.

I haven't played in over a year it seems, but your money is probably better spent elsewhere, or wait until its cheaper.

I got this on PC recently for 12 to coop with a friend. This game is quite mediocre mechanics wise. But I think if you're a special combo of really enjoy DND lore/the characters, love coop/have someone to play with, and have been wanting a coop action rpg like LOTR War in the North. Then it's worth the $10. And I'm that perfect combination.

But only under that specific set of scenarios. Lol. This ain't no baldurs gate classic and I'd bet it's a chore single player.

Hot garbage, don't bother. Developer really F'd this one up and didn't even implement the cross play on PC that was promised.
