I have this thing, the charging pad sucks. If your phone isn't in the exact right spot it will say it's charging, then you wake up the next morning to a phone at 10% because it didn't charge.
Too unreliable to count on imo.
It's basically a novelty item. You can ask it stuff but it's really not worth the cost imo.
The led on dim mode is easy to read and doesn't light up the whole room, so that's nice
Gen 2 is better one, it's lcd screen the other is LED and people say it's barely readable at dark room. I have Gen 2 it's works fine better than Echo show the only think I do t like is lack of Date display on clock face only 1 face has current date.
This does not have an FM/AM tuner and antenna, so it's not like the old radio alarm clock. However you can say Hey Google, play NPR or play The Current or your favorite station keyword and if they have a livestream, you can listen. At least that's how my G1 works.

I have the first model. I think it was $20. Besides this having a touch screen and front facing speakers, what are the benefits over the Lenovo Smart Clock 1? I don't need the wireless charging pad.

I bought one of these Lenovo smartclocks a few months ago and prompt returned it. The audio quality is garbage but most damning, there is no way to dismiss the alarm without voice commands. None of the buttons will stop it.

The first model is nice looking. Perfect match between old reliable and modern technology.

Do you have the essential? The regular smart clock has a button on the touch screen to press to stop the alarm. It will also have a countdown when it gets less than 2 hours that you can touch to prevent the alarm from going off. That's always been helpful when I wake up a few minutes early and don't want it to go off. With the essential, you just press the - button. At least it's that way with the previous versions with Google. I would think the new versions with Alexa would be similar.
That one is just the essential. It doesn't have a touch screen. It's just a clock with a smart speaker built in. This one has a touch screen, which gives you a lot more features. It won't let you play videos, but you'll have touch controls for alarms, playing music, etc. I believe it even does lights, but I haven't got they figured out, yet, since I only have one room with one of these that has a light setup on my Google home. So this one is far superior to the essential. However, the newer models of both the essential and smart clock have Alexa instead of Google. The one you linked to is an essential with Alexa. this one has Google.

I hope it has more stable wifi. I gave up on my Gen 1. When it worked it was great but so frustrating when it would lose wifi for days if not weeks.
Some guy on ebay selling 2 Refurbished Lenovo Smart Clock's Gen 2 Grey Color with 2 Smart Bulbs as a package, "Grade A" for $29.99. -- The given link is broken --

Too bad the LEDs burn out.
