Basically, it does just about everything that I want a smart watch to do for under $100. It tracks my walking steps, tons of exercises, heart rate, stress and sleep. It gives me whatever notifications I want from my watch, along with weather and yes, the time and date on an always-on screen! It has a built in alarm clock that's controlled from the app. There are tons of watchfaces to choose from that show whatever you want, including your own pictures. And I can wear it in the pool and shower. I can pause and play media from my phone on the watch, though that's only for bluetooth earbuds or the phone's speaker, since this model doesn't have a speaker.
I'm not saying that it's better than other brands, but it gives 90+% of the functionality of those much more expensive watches and bands for far less money. I was happy to get mine for $95 last year from a reseller. For $70, this is a no-brainer.
This is an older model now. One of these days I'll upgrade to a GTS 3 or 4 with newer upgraded sensors, when the prices come down. But for now, the GTS 2e is doing well for me.
in terms of pure value and cheaper cost, the Amazfit or Mi BANDS are much cheaper. But the screens of the bands are so small that they make any notifications or other info they offer nearly useless to me, since I can't read them, which is why I upgraded to one their smartwatches. The Amazfit Bip line also offers a really great value, but with less functionality and often smaller screens. For me, the GTS 2e is the sweet spot.

On the plus side, it charges very quickly. So, keeping it charged isn't really a problem for me. You can also get cheap backup charger cables (and alternative bands, too) off aliexpress or ebay for a couple of bucks. I keep one plugged in by the bed and another by the computer, with a third for travel.

Also, if it helps. I just checked the charging speed of my watch. It charged 10% in less than 9 minutes. So, even if you use 30% per day (which is very possible, with all functions and sensors on and with an always-on watch face), you can recharge it in less than a half an hour. The last 2% seems to always take longer, though. But that's true of almost any chargeable device I've used.
