Time kills oil just as effectively as mileage. I change mine religiously every 6 months/5000 miles, whichever comes first. Oil is cheap, engines aren't. YMMV.

Lots of ways to triple dip this deal with rebate sites, auto zone rewards and digital wallet payments. Mine was free shipping for 8, used my $20 auto zone rewards, 2% rebate and 5% DC for digital wallet. Basically ~$2.37 apiece.

That depends how much it costs to change your oil. I've done a few calculations and sometimes it's actually cheaper to replace the engine over frequent oil changes.

I do 1yr/10k OCI with synthetic, and that conservative in reality. Get a used oil analysis and actually check the life of the oil.

The only time I would say to go down to 5k OCI is if you have an engine that is known for oil control ring issues. Since a lot of manufacturers tried a lighter control ring to save fuel economy which in turn would cause excessive oil usage.

This!! Finally someone that brings up the detergent issues. In the TDI (diesel) world, that was the findings and a lot of people started going to 20k OCI which decreased wear mostly due to the detergent issue.

Wild. What kind of car? I bought an old Landcruiser out of a Kohl's parking lot in July and sent in the oil for a checkup on the health of the 28 year old 300,000 mile engine. I couldn't imagine sending it in every time.

Maybe there's oil execs in here to TD my post. I was responding to a question about driving 50 miles a week. I am neurotic about maintenance and some of the oil stuff is over the top. Maybe I should be changing my tires at 5/16
