I'd get this. I sent two kids off to college with Grams, and ones who aren't particularly kind to their hardware. They're practically bulletproof, extremely lightweight and the performance is outstanding. Combine that with the extended Costco warranty and you can't go wrong. Honestly, not sure what you'd need the extra performance for, aside from some heavier duty gaming.
After defending @contractcooker in an earlier reply, I'll respectfully disagree on this point - Even if you get better hardware, longer life, and a smoother experience with a Mac, and even if the cost were equivalent (which it typically isn't), it doesn't mean that a Mac is a better option for "most people."
The Mac would be better *except* for those who are not in the Apple ecosystem, or are just accustomed to Windows, or who own Windows software or games, or otherwise need it for work, or... probably most people 😅
That's the thing about the gram. It doesn't feel premium because it uses magnesium alloy to keep the weight down. It flexes like plastic but don't let that deceive you. It is as strong as any metal. So it depends on what matters to you. Lightweight even though it is perceived as a cheaper build quality but it's not at all or heavy aluminum with no flex.

Dual SSD, 2.51lb weight. Excellent deal! I have a non-touch version with 11th gen Intel CPU, with only one thunderbolt port. Jump on it!
This one has an extra slot for another SSD?

this and the ideapad 5 pro 14" r5 6600hs for $510 after tax. Which one should I get if I prefer good battery life and lightweight? Is it worth almost 300 for 80wh instead of 56wh on ideapad and 1lbs lighter?

Where is the IdeaPad deal ?

I went into the store to check this one out and I picked it up to try to compare the weight of it and the whole frame flexed really bad… it feels like it is 100% plastic. I am concerned with how durable it would be in a backpack or anywhere not sitting stationary on a desk. Comparing it to the Lenovo next to it was night and day difference on build quality. I opted for the beefier Lenovo Slim since I'm not as focused on the weight

It's worse in almost every conceivable way. Unless you need a windows machine in which case it's better. IMO MacOS is the superior day to day experience but I still like having a windows machine around at times. it really boils down to use case.
I bet you line up days before camping around a block for airpods that look like D=cks for earbuds that sound like $30 Jbls too

What are you on about? Performance wise the Mac will trounce this it won't even be close. Better battery life, more performant processor, better ssd, better speakers, better build quality. Apple's silicon is really quite impressive. I'm searching for a windows laptop (hence why I'm looking for windows laptop deals) but there's no denying any laptop in Apple's lineup will beat this in most areas. That's just a fact.

I think ASUS 14.5" OLED VivoBook is better deal for same price of $699.99

see for yourself in comparison

I'm about performance and battery life. But having to put on battery saver and slowing down the laptop extremely is not optimal.

I have a 720 yoga I got about 3 years ago, I've treated it well but it's sputtering at this point.

$715 vs $799 isn't enough of a difference to be snarky. It's a legitimate question, price aside. Bring in the comparable nature of the price and it becomes even more of a relevant question.

Agreed. I think for most people the Air is the better choice. But the gram is looking really good if you're looking for a Windows box.

Man, I got the HP pavilion (link below, 15.6" FHD touch, 16gb, 512gb, i7-1255u, MX550) at Costco a few weeks back, but was looking for the gram. Would it be worth it to return the HP and grab the gram?

Edit: HP was $699 also, so price is comparable

I'm in the same boat
Now thinking of returning it. Though the LG does cost $15 shipping .

LG gram is definitely lighter than the HP.

Laptops are generally terrible for gaming.
Unless you pay a premium for 'gaming' laptops that sport dedicated gpus.
