I'd get this. I sent two kids off to college with Grams, and ones who aren't particularly kind to their hardware. They're practically bulletproof, extremely lightweight and the performance is outstanding. Combine that with the extended Costco warranty and you can't go wrong. Honestly, not sure what you'd need the extra performance for, aside from some heavier duty gaming.
After defending @contractcooker in an earlier reply, I'll respectfully disagree on this point - Even if you get better hardware, longer life, and a smoother experience with a Mac, and even if the cost were equivalent (which it typically isn't), it doesn't mean that a Mac is a better option for "most people."
The Mac would be better *except* for those who are not in the Apple ecosystem, or are just accustomed to Windows, or who own Windows software or games, or otherwise need it for work, or... probably most people 😅
That's the thing about the gram. It doesn't feel premium because it uses magnesium alloy to keep the weight down. It flexes like plastic but don't let that deceive you. It is as strong as any metal. So it depends on what matters to you. Lightweight even though it is perceived as a cheaper build quality but it's not at all or heavy aluminum with no flex.

Trying to find a nice lightweight laptop for my son for college. Was leaning towards this from BestBuy - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6501593. Is that Samsung worth the extra $450 for mostly school work, and occasional games? Appreciate any input/thoughts

Battery life isn't as good as the Gram, but it's still solid. OLED weazes the juice.

There shall be no weazing of the juice!

I was about to reply with the same message not being able to replicate, but after addding one to my cart and clicking around, added a second laptop to the cart with a similar discount, getting the 15.6 i7 1TB 16GB Galaxy Book2 Pro down to $850, no trade in. $650 off instantly, Healthcare discount (instead of student) $150 off. Don't know how it happened. Going to buy now, think later.

In short, if you're still shopping, keep trying. Click on links at top of the website regarding the student discount and try to add another to your cart, see what happens.

Follow-up: I bought the Galaxybook. Confirmed discount amounts above. I'm guessing you can get a student discount instead of the first responder discount.

Mine came in a few days ago. Does anyone else's creak when flexing it? Hold both sides in your hands and just wobble it up and down ... mine is creaking really badly on the left side, near the headphone port. Just want to make sure it's normal even though I highly doubt it.

Mine doesn't creak when I tried what you described.
