I've owned a 3-ton Torin Big Red hydraulic jack for about 15 years and never had an issue, One thing that stands out on these jack stands is the steel plate covering the bottom of the footings. I have a different brand with that feature and they definitely prevent the footings from sinking into asphalt pavement. Probably not a concern if you are using then on concrete.

The bad reviews on amazon supports this too. I had a set of the older torin's that started cracking at the welds after a few uses as well. My harbor freight set on the other hand have been solid for well over 5 years of use. Not saying which is better but just my experience.

I returned my unused HF Daytona 3 ton and ordered this set. Some have complained about the changes made on the newer Daytona set that still shares the same UPC and part# as the highly reviewed original one. The newer HF Daytona still seems well built to me. However, on one of the two stands, I needed to lift the bar up at bit to put in the lock pin. The consequence was that the lock pin became a support pin, which must not be by design and did not play well to bring back the trust after the HF recalls So, instead of exchanging for another Daytona set, I decided to switch the brand. Let's see if the Big Red is better or worse.

Any idea if your old Torin's were manual welded or robotic welded?

I need a pair of these, need to start rotating tires on my own. Now for two cars, eventually an SUV as well. Looking for Final verdict, are they worth it?

I think I bought lifetime balance/rotation at Sam's for about $30 (tires not bought there, lifetime comes with if you buy them there). I can rotate my tires easily enough but diy balancing is a pain

I was just driving myself nuts over a week debating which ones to get. Then I came across the Dayton 3 ton stands and started looking into them and realized they are actually very well made stands. Funny part is.. the morning I went to buy them (2 days ago) I was searching some more and found someone on reddit that explained there are two versions of the "new" stands. He explained the differences and the ways you can tell on the box. So sure enough I go to my local HF and right away found the two different ones. You can tell by the weight on the box 7.10kgs (original new ones) and 6.56kgs (revised new ones). Also the base measurements are slights bigger on the new version which can be seen on the box as well. I have both versions of them sitting 10 feet away from me right now because I was just comparing them.

One thing you said made me curious though.. the revised ones (6.56kgs).. you said some people have complained? Can you point me towards any videos or forums where you've seen it? I def wanna read up a little now that I have both here. I searched for a while and only came across one comment on another slick deals post and one comment on reddit. Those were the only people I found talking about (or realizing) there is a revised version of the stands.

My natural instinct was to keep the beefier ones.. my only two concerns were if I ever wanted another pair I'm guessing I'd only be able to find the revised versions.. but having the pairs match doesn't matter really regardless.. and then I also wanted to have the option of using jack stand pads with the slit in them for side sills. From what I read it looks like the revised version of the HF stands has a smaller head which I guess is the common size for most jack stands and pads.
