It won't if you accidentally run the lawn mower over it. But I don't see why it can't last if you use it like it made to be use. The whole shovel is aluminum. Feels like it can handle most soil. I haven't try it out yet.

It's not half bad. I help at a community garden at a food bank and these sets got donated. Very usable, nothing fancy.
