Either a repost or it was wasn't on sale for a day. Bought this on bf with the intention of seeing if it plays well with the dreamstation. If it doesn't then I'll just return. It's been this price since BF.

Considering the large amount of QNAP vulnerabilities in their NAS systems, I'm not sure I would trust this.

Although I am glad to see 10gb prices slowly coming down.

I agree. But still good price though for 10gb managed switch. Just wish this thing had options to rack mount

Pretty solid deal. I think QNAP is one of the only players with decent 10GbE prices in the consumer space. Here is an unmanaged option:

https://www.amazon.com/QNAP-QSW-2...B0BFC6QFRL

or wait a bit for cheaper:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...witch.html

I have one ("old" non-A model) that seems to work well. Trade a ports for 2.5GbE instead of 1GbE. If you don't need a managed switch (and the potential security issues, I guess), and want cheap and 10GbE+2.5GbE, then this and Zyxel I believe are about the only good options.

(note: they do also have the QSW-M408S that has 2.5G, 10G and is managed for <$400, but that's obviously a different price category)

I have been using 2 qnap nasses for the last 8 years and a 10gbe qnap switch for the last 2. No problems at all yes there are several attack attempts but you just need to know or learn how to protect your network. You could start with 2 factor authentication and IP black listing.

I got this on Black Friday for this price. I have two enterprise 48 port 10g spf+ switches at home but it's overkill and takes up so much power so this a great compromise and will go on my qnap Nas w 10G port in my office

Idiot question: with sub gigabit internet, the only real benefit with this switch would be for hooking my Plex/channelsdvr server onto my network, right? Would I need to upgrade my gigabit router too? TIA

If your external bandwidth is only 1gb then a 1gb router is fine. I don;t know how much this will help with a plex/jellyfin/etc server unless you are routinely serving 10+ 4k streams inside the house at once.

I would actually like to downsize my setup to save power, but unfortunately this is too small, not enough Ethernet ports.

I am using enterprise switches at home, works great but hungry for power being dual power supply and 48 ports PoE+ I only need PoE for my two access points.
If you just need power injection for two APs - just get an inline power injector. I have 3 APs and use one of these - https://www.amazon.com/PoE-Texas-...B07C9FG2Y2. There are power injectors with 2 or 4 ports as well. Another cheaper option - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08D73YD5S

Someone's already posted using power injectors above me, but also consider using an enterprise switch with fewer poe ports. My ebay juniper ex3200 has 48 1gbe, 2 10g sfp+, and 8 of the 1gbe are poe. Pulls under 40w without poe in use so add whatever poe in. Loud but I've read $50 worth of new quieter fans can solve that.

You can buy a mounting kit that comes with a plate to make a full width 1u unit.
